Overall, hardware sale this week decreased by 38 percent. Week-on-week sales are down across the board. Overall year-on-year sales are down by one percent. The Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One are year-on-year.
One game debuted in the top 30 this week: The Crew (PS4) debuted at number four with sales of 370,581 units. The Xbox One version debuted at number 30 with sales of 141,255.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (3DS) passed the five million mark; Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (WiiU) passed the one million mark; Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (3DS) passed the four million mark; and FIFA 15 (X360) passed the two million mark.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is down across the board. PlayStation 4 sales are down by 348,207 (-33%) to 713,315 units sold. Xbox One sales are down by 502,297 (-49%) to 515,598 units sold. The Wii U sold 187,952 units, a decrease of 69,565 (-27%). PS3 sales are down by 72,431 (-40%) to 108,077 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down by 139,105 (-58%) to 102,098 units sold. The Wii sold 35,237 units, a decrease of 13,979 (-28%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is down for the 3DS and PlayStation Vita. The 3DS sold 513,719 units, which is a decrease of 187,659 (-27%). The PlayStation Vita sold 64,536 units, which is down 28,911 (-31%) compared to last week. Week on week sales is down by 1,362,154 (-38%) to 2.24 million units.
The Wii U, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 136,916 (-56%), the Wii is down 41,343 (-54%), the Xbox 360 is down 140,368 (-58%), the Wii U is up 2,236 (1%), the PlayStation 4 is up 369,645 (108%), and the Xbox One is up 227,910 (79%). The Vita is down 60,637 (-31%) and the 3DS is down 171,628 (-27%). Year on year sales is down by 27,320 units (-1%).
Home console hardware sales have decreased for one week for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
The PlayStation 3 has a 44 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 42 percent market share; and the Wii has a 14 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 50 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 37 percent market share and the Wii U has a 13 percent market share.
Handheld hardware sales decreased for one week for the 3DS and PlayStation Vita. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 449,000 units, from 608,000 units last week.
The 3DS has a 89 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has an 11 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the 3DS and Vita are up.
Worldwide Software

Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (3DS) is at the top of the charts with sales of 798,523. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4) is at number two with sales of 575,766. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (WiiU) is at number three with sales of 530,190. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4) is at number five with sales of 347,057.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (X360) is at number six with sales of 335,899. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 321,317. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS3) is at number eight with sales of 288,987. Far Cry 4 (PS4) is at number nine with sales of 278,356. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (XOne) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 266,448.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up for the PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and Wii U. The PlayStation 3 sold 6.60 million games, an increase of 1.02 million units (18%). The PlayStation 4 sold 35.02 million games this week, a decrease of 442,656 units (-8%). Xbox 360 software sales are up 73,910 units (2%) to 4.92 million games sold. The Xbox One sold 3.04 million games, a decrease of 40,768 units (28%). The Wii sold 2.11 million games, an increase of 211,912 (42%). The Wii U sold 2.02 games, an increase of 272,500 (16%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week is up for the DS and PSP. The 3DS sold 3.10 million games, which is down 564,095 units (-15%). The DS sold 1.19 million games, an increase of 154,566 units (15%) week-on-week. Vita game sales are down 39,054 units (-5%) to 820,676 games sold. The PSP sold 307,813 games, an increase of 61,328 (25%). Total combined software is up 706,930 units (2%) week-on-week to 29.13 million.
Year-on-year software totals are up for the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, DS, 3DS, and Vita. The PlayStation 3 is down 208,380 units (-3%), the Wii is down 253,593 units (-11%), the Xbox 360 is down 247,314 units (-5%), the Wii U is up 1.03 million units (103%), the PS4 is up 4.17 million units (490%), and the Xbox One is up 2.36 million units (346%). The DS is up 77,696 units (7%), the PSP is down 62,257 units (-17%), the 3DS is up 681,627 units (28%), and the Vita is up 403,131 units (97%). Total combined software is up by 9.48 million units (48%) games sold year-on-year.
Home console software sales have increased for the Wii for nine weeks, the Wii U for five weeks, and three weeks for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Xbox One sales have decreased for one week and PlayStation 4 sales have decreased for two weeks.
The PlayStation 3 has a 48 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 36 percent market share; and the Wii has a 16 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 50 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 30 percent market share, and the Wii U has a 20 percent market share.
Handheld software sales have increased for nine weeks for the DS and PSP. The 3DS and Vita have decreased for one week. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS has sold nearly four times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold nearly four times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has an 80 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 20 percent market share. The 3DS has a 79 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 21 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are up.
