Overall hardware sales decreased by 12 percent week-on-week. Week-on-week sales are up for the Xbox 360, PSP and Vita, and down for the PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, DS, and 3DS. Overall year-on-year sales are down nine percent. The 3DS is the only platform to be up year-on-year. The DS has dropped by 76 percent year-on-year, the biggest by percent.
One game debuted in the top 30 this week. Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP (PSV) debuted at number 10 with sales of 27,701. The game launched in Japan.
There are no software milestones this week in the top 30.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week are up for the Xbox 360, and down for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Wii U. PlayStation 3 sales are down 13,583 (-9%) to 133,230 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are up 6,023 (8%) to 85,877 units sold. The Wii sold 23,782 units, a decrease of 2,288 (-9%). The Wii U sold 22,135 units, a decrease of 968 (-4%).
Handheld sales week-on-week are up for the PSP and Vita, and down for the DS and 3DS. The 3DS sold 200,593 units, which is down 63,890 (-24%) week-on-week. The PSP is up 835 (2%) to 50,873 units sold. The Vita sold 33,428 units which is up 333 (1%) compared to last week. The DS is down 1,765 (-14%) to 11,098 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 75,303 units (-12%) to 561,016 units sold.
The 3DS is the only platform up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 14,128 (-10%), the Wii is down 27,365 (-54%), and the Xbox 360 is down 29,099 (-25%). The PSP is down 4,768 (-9%), the DS is down 35,258 (-76%), the Vita is down 12,881 (-28%) and the 3DS is up 42,526 (27%). Year on year sales are down 58,838 units (-9%).
Home console hardware sales have increased for the Xbox 360 for two weeks. PlayStation 3 sales have decreased for one week, while the Wii U has decreased for four weeks and the Wii for five week. The PlayStation 3 has led for the last 25 weeks. Wii and Wii U sales have been nearly identical for the last 11 weeks. The Wii has outsold the Wii U for the last seven weeks.
The PlayStation 3 has a 55 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 35 percent market share; and the Wii has a 10 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all for home consoles are down.
Handheld hardware sales have increased for the Vita for two straight weeks and for the PSP for one week. The 3DS has decreased for one week and the DS for three weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 167,000 units this week, down from 231,000 units last week.
The PSP has a 82 percent market share this week for the seventh generation handhelds, while the DS has a 18 percent market share. The 3DS has an 86 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 14 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the 3DS is up, while the Vita, DS and PSP are down.
Worldwide Software

Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: The Last of Us (PS3) is at the top of the charts with sales of 544,793. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) is at number two with sales of 243,893. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) is at number three with sales of 79,909. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) is at number four with sales of 50,167. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) is at number five with sales of 43,204.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) is at number six with sales of 40,532. Minecraft (X360) is at number seven with sales of 35,378. Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu (3DS) is at number eight with sales of 33,229. New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) is at number nine with sales of 28,358.
Software home console sales week-on-week are up for Wii and Wii U, and down for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 sold the most games this week with sales of 1.62 million units, a decrease of 675,159 units (-29%). The Xbox 360 sold 996,540 games this week, a decrease of 65,372 units (-6%). Wii software sales are up 26,098 units (6%) to 446,199 games sold. The Wii U sold 85,130 games, an increase of 1,217 (1%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week are down up for the PSP and Vita, and down for the DS and 3DS. The 3DS sold 705,637 games, which is down 398,954 units (-36%). The DS sold 286,814 games, a decrease of 2,967 units (-1%) week-on-week. The PSP sold 137,072 games, an increase of 12,348 (10%). Vita game sales are up 28,394 units (38%) to 103,408 games sold. Total combined software is down 1.07 million units (-20%) week-on-week to 4.38 million.
Year on year software totals are up for the 3DS and PlayStation 3, and down for everything else. The PlayStation 3 is up 451,906 units (39%), the Wii is down 281,608 units (-39%) and the Xbox 360 is down 150,981 units (-13%). The DS is down 1.87 million units (-87%), the PSP is down 50,282 units (-27%), the 3DS is up 406,048 units (136%), and the Vita is down 19,559 units (-16%). Total combined software is down 1.43 million units (-25%) games sold year on year.

The 3DS sold the most software for a handheld for the 26th straight week. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold nearly seven times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold more than two times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 68 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 32 percent market share. The 3DS has an 87 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 13 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handheld software sales are down.
