Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Polyphony Digital in June of last year announced Gran Turismo 7 for the PlayStation 5 and will launch sometime in 2022.

Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi speaking at the FIA Gran Turismo Championships 2020 (via VideoGamesChronicle) said the team doesn't want to make any concessions when it comes to Gran Turismo 7 and they want to make it the best possible game.

"We always pursue the best at Polyphony Digital," he said. "We don’t want to make concessions on anything. We want to deliver the best to everyone. And this is no longer just my thinking, but it’s the mindset of all 200 or so staff at our company.

"They say in Japan that ‘divinity comes to reside in the details’ and it’s so true. How much attention you pay to the fine details, how to perfect it, hone it to perfection and applying an incredible amount of attention to this, is our production style."

As much as the series is venerated, the truth is that they need to hit it out of the park with 7. I am not a fan of the series, but even so, I can tell that 6 and Sports moved the series in the wrong direction after a stagnating 5th main entry. Hope that PD can turn their fortune around.

They still managed over 6M sales on GT6 and are close to 10M user count (sales could be 8M) on GTS so they haven't dropped so much. But yes it would be good to see they growing again.

I hope they revamp the campaign mode, make it an interesting showcase. Can't imagine how the graphics will improve much further. Was amazing on gt sport/

after GTsports, anything but a return to greatness, should result in heads flying. So its good, that they can talk about it like this, and hopefully it delivers on it as well.

What's wrong with GTS? I think that's a great gran Turismo game. It's pure driving with none of the filler content. Fantastic game

@only777 totally agree. I has tons of fun playing GTS and it still is my favourite this generation. I also like Project Cars 2

He has always desired perfection with the GT games and I love that. They are always complete when they come out.

Loved GT Sport, and will definitely try GT7. Can we have a smaller game and updates rather than a huge game with a massively delayed launch please!
