Overall hardware sales decreased by three percent week-on-week. Week-on-week sales are up just for the Wii U, while all other platforms are down. The 3DS and PlayStation Vita both dropped between 16,000 and 17,000 units this week. Overall year-on-year sales are down 11 percent. The 3DS is the only platform to be up year-on-year and is up by 24 percent. The DS has dropped by 75 percent year-on-year, the biggest by percent.
One game debuted in the top 30 this week, which is down from eight last week. Earth Defense Force 4 (PS3) debuted at number two with sales of 154,680. The Xbox 360 version of the game debuted at number 16 with sales of 23,410. The game launched in Japan.
There are no software milestones this week in the top 30.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is up for the Wii U, and down for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. PlayStation 3 sales are down 5,543 (-4%) to 130,114 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down 1,005 (-1%) to 91,891 units sold. The Wii U sold 26,801 units, an increase of 1,820 (7%). The Wii sold 23,673 units, a decrease of 541 (-2%).
Handheld sales week-on-week are down across the board. The 3DS sold 164,219 units, which is down 16,060 (-9%) week-on-week. The PSP is down 3,463 (-7%) to 47,966 units sold. The PlayStation Vita sold 42,713 units which is down 16,809 (-28%) compared to last week. The DS is down 471 (-4%) to 10,422 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 42,072 units (-7%) to 537,799 units sold.
The 3DS is the only platform to be up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 20,871 (-14%), the Wii is down 30,486 (-56%), and the Xbox 360 is down 27,056 (-23%). The PSP is down 13,838 (-22%), the DS is down 30,767 (-75%), the Vita is down 2,181 (-5%) and the 3DS is up 31,457 (24%). Year on year sales are down 66,941 units (-11%).
Home console hardware sales have increased for the Wii U for two weeks, while the other three home consoles have decreased for one week each. The PlayStation 3 has led for the last 27 weeks. Wii and Wii U sales have been nearly identical for the last 13 weeks. The Wii U has also outsold the Wii for two straight weeks.
The PlayStation 3 has a 53 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 37 percent market share; and the Wii has a 10 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Xbox 360 is up, while the PlayStation 3, Wii and Wii U are down.
Handheld hardware sales have decreased for the PlayStation Vita and PSP for one week, while the 3DS has decreased for three weeks and the DS for five weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has increased slightly this week to 122,000 units, up from 121,000 units last week.
The PSP has an 82 percent market share this week for the seventh generation handhelds, while the DS has an 18 percent market share. The 3DS has a 79 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 21 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are down.
Worldwide Software

Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) is at number three with sales of 118,518. Minecraft (X360) is at number four with sales of 348,186. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) is at number five with sales of 44,606.
Toukiden (PSV) is at number six with sales of 43,245. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) is at number seven with sales of 42,214. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3) is at number eight with sales of 35,576. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) is at number nine with sales of 33,732. Toukiden (PSP) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 33,123.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up for the Wii, and down for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. The PlayStation 3 sold the most games this week with sales of 1.50 million units, a decrease of 305,316 units (-17%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.01 million games this week, a decrease of 24,294 units (-2%). Wii software sales are up 12,113 units (3%) to 443,867 games sold. The Wii U sold 84,602 games, a decrease of 14,439 (-15%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week are is up for the DS, and down for the PSP, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita. The 3DS sold 540,658 games, which is down 211,500 units (-28%). The DS sold 284,781 games, an increase of 2,390 units (1%) week-on-week. The PSP sold 153,089 games, a decrease of 59,820 (-28%). PlayStation Vita game sales are down 99,188 units (-45%) to 118,927 games sold. Total combined software is down 700,054 units (-14%) week-on-week to 4.13 million.
Year on year software totals are up for the PlayStation 3, Vita, and 3DS, and down for the Wii, Xbox 360, DS, and PSP. The PlayStation 3 is up 241,703 units (19%), the Wii is down 256,860 units (-37%) and the Xbox 360 is down 123,726 units (-11%). The DS is down 327,448 units (-53%), the PSP is down 46,177 units (-23%), the 3DS is up 42,678 units (9%), and the Vita is up 102,675 units (16%). Total combined software is down 368,976 units (-8%) games sold year on year.

The PlayStation 3 has a 51 percent market share, the Xbox 360 has a 34 percent market share, and the Wii has a 15 percent market share. Compared to ten weeks ago all four home console software sales are up for the PlayStation 3, and down for the Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U.
The 3DS sold the most software for a handheld for the 28th straight week and shows no sign of giving up the top spot. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold more than four times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold nearly twice as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 65 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 35 percent market share. The 3DS has an 82 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has an 18 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the PSP is up, while the 3DS, PlayStation Vita and DS are down.
