Take-Two Stock Falls Following GTA 6 Delay - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 May 2025 / 3,564 ViewsRockstar Games this morning announced it has delayed Grand Theft Auto VI. It will now launch on May 26, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The delay has not been taken lightly by shareholders as Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two has seen stock prices slide this morning by around nine percent. The stock priced closed at $235.79 and opened this morning at $215.25. As of the time of writing the stock price is at $217.24.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in his own statement said he fully supports Rockstar Games delaying Grand Theft Auto VI.

"While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence," said Zelnick. "As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders."

That's kinda what happened. It did hit -10% very quickly, but it's now at -5.7. I think buying now will be a mistake though because without GTA6 i think gaming is going to stagnate
It'll stagnate if we're lucky. More than likely, the industry is going to shrink for the first time in since the early 80's. You can't push the price of things this hard without at least a portion of consumers walking away. The lower cost of entry was why the industry expanded in the first place.
Definitely going to stagnate or shrink without GTA6 coming in to save the day. I don't think it's the prices though. PS5 is very fairly priced for relative to it's performance. I just think there's too many people just happily playing FTP games like apex and Fortnite. It's hard to sell people new games at full price when there's so many FTP and it's hard to sell new consoles when these FTP games run on old consoles too.
They will release this at $100 release date lol
