by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 November 2021 / 2,433 ViewsNintendo and Illumination are working together on a Super Mario Bros. animated movie, which will it theaters in North America on December 21, 2022.
Nintendo following its policy briefing for the earnings report answered some questions asked by investors, which was attended by Japan-based analyst and investment adviser David Gibson.
Shigeru Miyamoto was asked about the Super Mario Bros. animated movie and if there were plans to make more movies.
Miyamoto says the Super Mario Bros. animated movie is pretty much done as the team is working on the last bit. He has a very good feeling about it and is working to polish it before it releases.
He would like to release movies and more based on other Nintendo IPs with a plan to go one by one and not to do multiple at the same time.
Chris Pratt has been cast to play protagonist Mario, with Charlie Day playing Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy will play Peach and Jack Black will play Bowser.
A: Would like to roll out with other IPs for movies etc, people should experience IP in variety of wats. But going one by one, not say doing many IP movies at same time. - Miyamoto answered.

a deep dark Zelda movie please.
God there's going to be a terribly cheesy Zelda movie some day isn't there.
There's rumor going around that Donkey Kong will be the next Nintendo film being done. With Seth Rogen lending his voice to DK respectively. Again...just a rumor.
I really hope the Mario movie does well. Detective Pikachu had a really dumb launch window sandwiched between Avengers endgame and Toys Story 4 but still managed to do pretty well. I'm scared a bit for the Mario movie tho, it has Chris Pratt as a front-runner and he keeps getting bad press in the recent years and i do not think it's a coincidence his new franchises lately are all voice over work. He literally was trended on Twitter, negatively, YESTERDAY just bc of a (disappointing) instagram post. People just don't like him anymore, and honestly i don't think that's gonna help the movie.
But yea, i'm atleast glad Nintendo is interested in expending their IPs. They have the most potential of the gaming industry to make it in the movie/serie business imo. Their IPs are the most recognized and beloved. A Zelda/Metroid movie would be incredible. They could even bother making a cinematic universe since it is a really smart and lucrative avenue right now with every studio trying to have it's own. I wouldn't be surprised if they are interested in that, after all, they have the Smash Brothers. franchise and know how people like to see these characters togheter.
make pokemon movies, like detective pikachu.
your correct, i cannot see this be a success.
