Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds composer Arnie Roth seems to have let slip that a Final Fantasy XII remake or remaster is in the works.
As Gematsu notes, although Roth used the word remake he likely meant remaster, which is in line with Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto's remarks last year that more Final Fantasy titles are set to get the remaster treatment, following on from the success of the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster release.

Just remaster all the Final Fantasy Games to PS4. I'd like to have the whole collection on one console.
I know some people love it, but for whatever reason this was the game that ended my long love of final fantasy. It had already entered that territory with X, but I just couldn't get into XII at all.

If any it's going to be a remaster. FF XII is the last FF game needing a remake, at least in terms of graphics. It pretty much had a good 3D environment already on PS2.
It's the first FF where people went..."meh". So why remaster it? Why not remaster FF9? Or, FF6? More head scratching decision making for Square imo.
hope its not true, was a wana be ff11. the controls and battle system , were the worst in the series and it almost made me quit playing the series , because its that bad of a game.
That cast looks terrible.
