That's a 6.5 tie ratio without digital. At least there's one impressive thing about it.

Tie ratios aren't generally based on the annual console sales since it isn't only new owners buying software. Using that metric the PS3 would have a tie ratio of 29.3. Even the Vita would be at 6.3. The Wii at 54.8, etc.

I say meh to these sales. Nintendo consoles have sold better (selling worse than gamecube) so I'm really worried in a sales aspect for the Wii U.

Worrying is the equivalent of chewing bubble gum in order to solve an algebra problem.

Nintendo could have sold an extra 1 million wii us if they had a smash bundle globally for christmas, a mario kart 8 bundle at launch in Japan
and a captain toad bundle

I certainly thing a $50 price drop is needed right now. The 1st quarter is a slow time for sales for the whole industry but the release schedule for Nintendo looks very barren indeed. They can't afford to return to a 30k per week baseline then wait for the holiday season again. The question is whether Nintendo will sell more Wii U's in 2015 than last year, if they don't then the console has already peaked and lifetime sales of 20 million seem unlikely.

They need to start having a variety of different bundles, have a price drop, work on publisher relations and start face lifting their online services.

No, its been like that since the NES, SNES sold worse than the NES, N64 sold worse than the SNES, GC sold worse than the N64. The Wii was the only break, but that was because of hype, in a few years it fell off a cliff in terms of sales, so actually he's very likely right, and once again the Wii U sold worse than the Wii.

It would be difficult to sell worse than this. It all depends on what kind of console they release and when they release it... We can't know how it will go.
