Darkstalkers Reboot Needs 500,000 Signatures, SF x Tekken for 3DS? - News

Yoshinori Ono, current produer of the Street Fighter series, has been very vocal about his support of the Darkstalkers fanbase, and their effort in trying to get Capcom to revive the series. Ono himself is already on board, but sadly, the decision is not for him to make. Speaking to Eurogamer, he said that even now that the online petition for a Darkstalkers reboot has reached 100,000 signatures, Capcom are still quick to dismiss it.

“We have to keep on going,” he said. “At the moment in Capcom’s statistics, I’ve heard [the number of requests have] gone over 100,000. But it’s far from a million. We need to keep on going. One day, if it goes half a million, Capcom may raise its eyebrow a little bit and I could do what I did in London in 2007 when I announced the comeback of Street Fighter.”

He continued by saying “In the near future, with your help, it may become true. It’s on its way, because we’re pretty much where we were with Street Fighter a few years back. So keep it up.”

Words on encouragement for Darkstalkers fans, to be sure. But Ono also had other things to discuss - namely, the possibility of Street Fighter x Tekken eventually reaching the Nintendo 3DS. While it is not something that has been set in stone yet, Ono referred to it as the next step. “It used to be that you had to go to an arcade machine, pay money and play it. Then it came to home console and you could play it in front of your TV. Now you can play Super Street Fighter IV anywhere if you’ve got a 3DS” he explained.

“I think that’s an amazing thing. The next step would be to have Street Fighter x Tekken, which is the celebration of all top fighting gamers’ dreams in one, to be on 3DS, where you can play anywhere you want” he said. “That’s an ultimate idea. Personally speaking, it should happen. We should probably start making more noise about this. But officially, nothing has been considered yet.”

Street Fighter x Tekken does not have an official date yet, but more info on it is expected to surface at Capcom's Captivate event next month.

Also, Inafune did his part too. The people that work for Capcom try to change it for the better get screwed while clueless investors that have probably never played video games themselves make retarded mistakes. I love Capcom, but I want it to die a horrific death now that it has decided that the gamer is no longer the most important audience to target. And this isn't an HD vs SD issue or anything of the like... It's an issue of people who know how to make games vs jackasses that think they know how to make money off of other's work. And its no wonder the talent is fleeing as fast as possible.

Poor Ono, how many moths will it take until he realizes he has no ability to help Capcom? Mikami tried for so long and eventually had to quit because it's a lost cause. The people really pulling the strings have no idea what their customers want and the employees that do are ignored to no end other than them quitting. Capcom is ****ing doomed, long term, unless they change their current attitude, and I hope their talent runs away as fast as possible now to save themselves. This was a company that could do little to no wrong at one point, and now they can do little to no right at the expense of their employees. Fuck them and the mentality they've bought into.

i wanna sign too but no one seems to know where this said petition is; all i've seen online are a bunch of threads talking about this.
for all we know, capcom is just trying to start a buzz to measure its reputation and/or raise much awareness to the series

100,000 signatures? And nobody knows where we can sign it, even in eventhubs? Well, it is a very good start.

i wanna sign too, but realistically??? i can see this being a DL game, the Darkstalker series have never been as popular as SF, not even close. and its crazy that Capcom is giving the 3DS more fighters than Wii.
