Retro Games and Consoles Returning to Select GameStops

Retro Games and Consoles Returning to Select GameStops - News

Select GameStop locations will begin selling and accepting trade-ins for retro games and consoles starting April 25th.

GameStops in the NYC and Birmingham markets will play host to this experiment, which will bring NES, Super NES, SEGA Genesis, PlayStation, N64, and SEGA Dreamcast consoles and games back into rotation. Though trade-ins will be accepted starting April 25th, GameStop says it will take about two months to amass enough of an inventory to begin selling in stores.

Last month, GameStop announced it would be bringing back PS2 trade-in deals, meaning that once this plan goes through, all major home game consoles will once again be available at GameStop.

"We will bring all of the product back through the Refurbishment Operations Center for inspection, testing and repair," a GameStop representative told IGN, hoping to ensure that the older consoles - many of which are over twenty years old - will withstand the tribulations of time. GameStop also states that retro products will come with the same GameStop warranty as "current used and refurbished consoles."

This program is only affecting the New York City and Birmingham, Alabama stores at first - about 250 stores total - but GameStop will also be making retro games, consoles, and accessories available nationwide via their online store.

With digital sales of new games cutting into their pockets, it's time to go back to what made them their money back in the golden years.

Here in Italy sometimes I bought PS1, GC and OXbox games for 0,25€ used on Gamestop, sure this doesn't happen often, but this happens.
