Scannable Pokemon Wii U Figures Revealed (and video) - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 15 March 2013 / 3,252 ViewsSeems like only yesterday we found out a new Pokémon game was releasing in Japan soon that uses the NFD technology. Well it looks like today Nintendo released a lot more information.
The base set includes Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Torchic, Piplup, Lucario, Victini, and one special (or secret) Pokémon. This is just the first set and obviously there will be more NFC Pocket Monster figures in the future.
Official (and quite Japanese) release trailer
As a reminder each figure will be priced at ¥200 (US$2.08). In Japan they will be sold through a capsule toy machine vending machine. That means every purchase is a random encounter ... fun! So naturally expect there to be a thriving secondary market as people attempt to catch 'em all.
Oh, and there will also be an official carrying case to hold your collection for the meager price of ¥780 ($8.11).
Dude, you'll be the coolest kid in school with your PokéKeeper Box
So, let's hear your guesses. Will there be a version coming to the west this holiday season? Do you think Nintendo can compete against both Activision's Skylanders and Disney's Infinity?
