Tecmo Koei: Wii U Exclusive Hyrule Warriors Will Sell 1 Million Units - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 20 May 2014 / 14,087 ViewsTemco Koei is expecting its Wii U exclusive Hyrule Warriors to sell one million units. That would make it the 6th Wii U title to cross the one million mark, according to VGChartz.
"In gaming, this is a first-time collaboration," said Tecmo Koei president Yoichi Erikawa in a report by Nintendo Everything. "As a new entry in the Warriors series, we plan to release the game Hyrule Warriors in collaboration with Nintendo in the summer of this year."
"In addition to our Warriors series fan base, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda is also a very popular series with a large fan base, and I think it will become a great new market. Because of The Legend of Zelda’s legion of fans overseas, we are aiming to sell more than one million copies worldwide."
As of May 3, the Wii U has sold 6.13 million units at retail, according to VGChartz.

Count me in
It's definitely on my Wii U "must have" list.
Lifetime yes, in 2014 no...
of course it will.
Wasn't this news like 3 weeks ago?
Lets see how good the game is first...
is this going to be a dynasty warriors clone ?
Eventually it certainly might, but really? This is supposed to be news? Come on. There's a sales target for every game. This isn't special enough to warrant an article about it.
So 1 out of every 6 Wii U owner is going to buy this? Maybe in Japan but not worldwide.
It can happen. The Warriors series have good numbers in japan, and the Zelda Skin is going to give it more appeal in the west.
It probably won't ever hit that target considering dynasty warrior games don't sell all that much so even with a zelda skin I doubt it would reach a million due to the fact that the title is on an extremely small install base.
Focus on making a great game, then we'll see. Zelda games sell because they are a hallmark of quality. If there is even a whiff of mediocrity about this, people will stay away in droves for fear of tainting the Zelda name. Here's to hoping that Nintendo won't let that happen.
If it has a Zelda story, Zelda items, and some Zelda mechanics should make it at least a decent game.
Good luck. This isn't my type of game, but Link sure did help sell Soul Calibur II back in the day, so it's not unthinkable it'll happen again.
It makes complete sense.
