by William D'Angelo , posted on 06 January 2014 / 10,926 ViewsMicrosoft's 8th generation console the Xbox One launched in 13 countries on November 22. Microsoft has announced that at the end of 2013 the Xbox One has sold more than three million units worldwide. The console has been sold out at most retailers around the world, as Microsoft tries to replenish stock as fast as it can.
The Xbox One became the fastest-selling console in the US during the month of November. The Xbox One also set a launch record for the Xbox brand, beating out the launch of the original Xbox in 2001 and the Xbox 360 in 2005.
"The reaction from our fans was mind-blowing for our team," said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, Strategy and Business, Xbox. "As we see your excitement, your energy and your hours of gameplay, we continue to be inspired to do great work – for you."
"Whether you’re racing through the streets of Prague in Forza Motorsport 5, creating crazy weapons for zombie destruction in Dead Rising 3, exploring the Colosseum in Gladiator mode in Ryse: Son of Rome, helping your children create their own personal zoo in Zoo Tycoon, or enjoying epic multiplayer battles, we love that you’re having fun on Xbox One," Mehdi continued.
"We also love that you are seeing the promise of an all-in-one entertainment system," added Mehdi. "Millions of hours of live TV have been watched and millions of hours of app entertainment have been enjoyed. We are proud to have the most passionate, engaged, and simply the best fans in the world. It was fun to share the holidays with so many of you."
Microsoft is excited for the year ahead for the Xbox One. They cited releases such as Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Project Spark, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Destiny as some of the biggest releases for the Xbox One in 2014.

They aren't going anywhere. Sales will stay strong in the U.S. for awhile. M$ needs to launch the XB1 in those other 29 countries and also China. They should do this ASAP.
Congratulations. Brand Xbox is amazing. Must have
Its Amazing.
I´m amazed with this results taking into account how expensive and how weak the hardware of xbone is !
Has it really been sold out at most retailers around the world? I know NZ is a tiny market but here it hasn't been sold out at a single retailer.
well done to ioi for being on the spot with the global sales estimate. I assume it's easier to make accurate estimates with only 13 markets most of which have active sampling.
It didn't sell out in my area either apart from day one bundles as far as I could tell. They'd have the accurate info though, if anyone.
Should have mentioned, I'm in Australia!! :-)
