by William D'Angelo , posted on 17 November 2013 / 12,014 ViewsNintendo's latest handheld, the 3DS, started off slow, however sales have skyrocketed since. The handheld has topped 10 million units sold in both the US and Europe in the same week, according to VGChartz.
The 3DS has sold 10,074,977 units in the US up until the week ending November 9. In Europe the 3DS has sold 10,029,415 units. The 3DS has also sold 13,719,781 units in Japan and 36,970,071 units worldwide.
Super Mario 3D Land is the bestselling game for the 3DS, with more than 8.65 million units sold. Mario Kart 7 is the second bestselling game with 8.37 million units. Pokémon X/Y has managed to sell 6.90 million units in just four weeks, while New Super Mario Bros. 2 has sold 6.48 million units. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the one other game to top five million units, with 5.12 million units sold.

I say 43M+ by years end.
43m is a good guess. I'm going to go with 45m for the hell of it.
My guess would be between 43-44 million considering its going to have three 1m weeks, those being black friday and the two weeks before xmas.
The Wii U crisis seems just like the 3DS's past crisis. It was overpriced and had few games in the first year. In the second year a 3D Mario came out followed by a Mario Kart and a price drop. Now the 3DS is the best selling video game handheld of this generation(PSV literally has no chance now). Sounds verrrrry familiar. Let's just hope it works.
The difference is the Vita NEVER really had a chance. It was coming off of the PSP, which did well for the first several years but never lit the world on fire like the DS, whose brand was still titanically popular when the 3DS came out. In the Wii U's case, two extremely worthy competitors each just sold almost 25% of the U's total numbers on their first days, and it's coming off of the Wii brand, whose value cataclysmically dropped in the last three years or so.
Hopefully Nintendo can pull off some magic and turn it around, as I really do love my Wii U, but the situations aren't the same at all.
xbox is gonna dominate the toilet bowl region!!!
I think it is likely that the Wii U goes the same way as the 3DS after Mario World and Mario Kart 8 are released. The race in the console market is still up in the air.
So PS4 is going to dominate in the Console market (Most likely) and the 3ds is Dominating in the handheld market... So I wonder where Xbox will dominate this time around
The 3DS is currently dominating, and the PS4 hasn't dominated yet. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Anything can happen.
in the nsa headquarter
@Jizz_Beard_thePirate Nowhere, the xbox will go into irrelevancy if microsoft decides to keep that $500 price tag.
@BuckStud BuckStud True enough but I doubt doubt X1 will come on top seeing as how their now focusing on non-gaming.
@fatslob-:O people said the same thing about Sony with the PS3. Don't count them out until their last years. It took Sony 3 years to even start getting some footing. Imagine where we'll be in 3 years.
The TV Market? That ad campaign seems to be totally focused on Kinect, NFL TV app, and Skype. The only game I've actually seen an ad for is Ryse: Son of Rome. Of course I see TV/Kinect focused ad 5 times for every one time I've seen the Ryse ad.
I highly doubt the PS4 will dominate. The only console it will dominate is the Wii-U. The Xbox One will keep similar sales with the PS4 even if it does trail. There is still a large amount of people that will be purchasing Xbox Ones. I know a few of them. Dominating requires a considerable lead. Not a 5-8 million console lead at the end of a life cycle.
The Xbox One will dominate in the US and the PS4 will dominate in Europe and Japan.

Yeah, I remember VGChartz article about how the DS passed the PS2 lol
