Sony Computer Entertainment Merges Japan, Asia Offices - News

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that it is merging its Japanese and Asian offices into a a single entity called Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia.Sony will be forming a new strategic planning department, a new first party publishing department, and a new product management unit.

The president will be Hiroshi Kawano who originally headed up Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. Also the former Sony Computer Entertainment Asia boss Hiroyuki Oda will be the deputy.

They need to stop doing these downsizing, mergers and selling buildings till the ps4 comes out. It's bad publicity for the company. Not many understand what's going on though I suppose, but self confidence, (or the appearance of said confidence for share holders and such) of before releasing a console worldwide will pay off for them in the end.

Good to see them trying to get back out of the red.

This is another cost cutting measure to try to get the company back into the black. They need to downsize, and save money where they can.

I think the new 1st Party department is to catch to the 15 new 1st Party IPs Nintendo created in the past 2 years.

I couldn't help notice that Sony only releases 1 New IP a year, only.

Overall, I would say this entire move is the best thing for Sony to do across the board for their company.

So thumbs up for Sony doing all these things.
