Overview
PlayStation Vita sales continue to fall after a boost two weeks ago. Hardware sales week on week are up only for the PlayStation 3, while the Xbox 360 is flat, and everything else is down. The 3DS continues to be the only platform up year on year, but is only up by four percent. Overall hardware sales are down 35 percent year on year.
Five games debuted in the top 30 this week. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (PS3) debuted at number two with sales of 161,042. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number seven with sales of 74,695. There are no software milestones this week in the top 30.
Worldwide Hardware

Hardware sales week on week are up for the PlayStation 3, flat for the Xbox 360, and down for everything else. The 3DS remains at the top this week with sales of 184,297 units, which is down 15,091 (-8%). The PlayStation 3 is up 5,049 (4%) to 124,415 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down just 376 (0%) to 98,997 units sold. The Wii sold 38,312 units, which is down 2,085 (-5%). The PlayStation Vita sold 35,301 which is down 4,751 (-12%) compared to last week. The PSP is down 1,256 (-6%) to 24,273 units sold. The DS is down 1,412 (-6%) to 243,546 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 19,922 (-4%) to 529,141.
The 3DS continues be the only platform up year on year, however only by four percent. The PlayStation 3 is down 100,723 (-45%), the Wii is down 66,731 (-64%), and the Xbox 360 is down 27,649 (-22%). The PSP is down 70,262 (-74%) the DS is down 59,145 (-72%) and the 3DS is up 7,369 (4%). Year on year sales are down 281,840 (-35%).

PlayStation 3 hardware sales have increased for one week and Xbox 360 hardware sales have been relatively stable. While Wii sales after jumping up the week ending August 4, have decreased each week since then. The PlayStation 3 has a 47 percent market share; the Xbox 360 has a 38 percent market share; and the Wii has a 15 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all three home consoles are down.

3DS hardware sales have declined since the release of the 3DS XL and New Super Mario Bros. 2; however after a couple weeks appear to have started leveling off. The 3DS has outsold its predecessor, the DS, by nearly 8 to 1, while the Vita outsold its predecessor, the PSP, by 31 percent. The PSP has a 51 percent market share this week for the current generation handhelds and the DS has a 49 percent. The 3DS has an 84 percent market share for the next generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 16 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the 3DS is up while the PlayStation Vita, DS and PSP are down.
Worldwide Software
Five games debuted in the top 30 this week. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (PS3) debuted at number two with sales of 161,042. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number seven with sales of 74,695. The game launched in all three major regions worldwide.
NHL 13 (X360) debuted at number five with sales of 81,712. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at number eight with sales of 60,382. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Medalot 7 (3DS) debuted at number nine with sales of 53,449. The game launched in Japan.
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2nd (3DS) debuted at number 12 with sales of 34,768. The game launched in Japan.
Accel World: Ginyoku no Kakusei (PS3) debuted at number 28 with sales of 17,923. The game launched in Japan.
Other games in the top 10 that are not debuts include New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) at the top with sales of 175,895. Madden NFL 13 (X360) is at number three with sales of 102,046. Guild Wars 2 (PC) is at number four with sales of 192,618.
Madden NFL 13 (PS3) is at number six with sales of 78,749. Sleeping Dogs (PS3) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 39,316.

Week on week software totals are up for the PlayStation 3 and 3DS, flat for the Xbox 360, and down for the Wii, DS, PSP, and PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation 3 sold 1.49 million games, an increase of 9,352 (1%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.31 million games this week, a decrease of 4,312 (0%). Wii software sales are down 34,337 (-4%) to 738,917. The 3DS sold 595,161 games, which is up 10,481 (2%). The DS sold 470,538 games, a decrease of 18,390 (-4%). PSP game sales are down 16,737 (-7%) to 215,239 games sold. The Vita sold 84,856 games, a decrease of 15,138 (-15%). Total combined software is down 69,081 (-1%) week on week to 4.90 million.
Year on year software totals, just like with the hardware sales, are down for every platform, except for the 3DS. The PlayStation 3 is down 160,944 (-10%), the Wii is down 650,527 (-47%) and the Xbox 360 is down 30,134 (-2%). The DS is down 263,252 (-36%), the PSP is down 56,849 (-21%) and the 3DS is up 355,658 (148%). Total combined software is down 721,192 units (-13%) games sold year on year.

Wii software sales have decreased for a fourth straight week, while PlayStation 3 software sales have increased for one week and Xbox 360 has been flat for one week. The PlayStation 3 has lead for the last 17 weeks. The PlayStation 3 has a 42 percent market share, the Xbox 360 with 37 percent, and the Wii with 21 percent. Compared to ten weeks ago the PlayStation 3 is up, and the Xbox 360 and Wii are down.

The 3DS has led the handheld software sales for an eighth straight. DS software sales have decreased for six straight weeks. The DS has a 69 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 31 percent market share. The 3DS has an 88 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 12 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the 3DS and PSP up, and the DS, and PlayStation Vita are down.
