Overview

There are two games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, Guild Wars 2 (PC) and Madden NFL 13 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As a reminder the Pro data is back up, which means that I am taking requests again for games outside the top 20.

The top nine games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, up from seven last week, and the top 13 has 100,000 or more pre-orders, up from 12 last week. Six games added 20,000 or more, up from four last week and nine added 10,000 or more, the same as last week.

Games in Final Week Before Launch

Guild Wars 2 (PC) added 16,565 pre-orders for a grand total of 249,096. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 400,000 to 500,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between two million and three million units lifetime.

Madden NFL 13 (PS3) added 59,210 pre-orders for a grand total of 219,725. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 350,000 to 450,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.3 million and 1.6 million units lifetime.

• Madden NFL 12 (PS3,  2011) – 485,649 week one USA, 1.59 million to date

Madden NFL 13 (X360) added 75,038 pre-orders for a grand total of 213,357. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 400,000 to 500,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.7 million and 2.0 million units lifetime.

• Madden NFL 12 (X360,  2011) – 583,666 week one USA, 2.08 million to date

Major Performers – Week Ending September 1

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) sales are expected to drop to around 100,000 in its second week on sale.

After the release of the 3DS XL last week, 3DS sales are expected to drop to around 50,000. Other hardware is expected to be relatively flat week on week.

Other Hot Games

Halo 4 (X360) has added 20,069 pre-orders, up from 15,625 last week, for a total of 590,688. The game is currently 232,000 pre-orders ahead of Halo: Reach during the same number of weeks before release. The game is 11 weeks away from launch in the USA, November 6, 2012.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) added 40,702 pre-orders, down from 53,736 last week, for a total of 647.395. The game is 192,000 pre-orders behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) during the same number of weeks before release. The game is 12 weeks away from launch in the USA, November 13, 2012.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3) added 36,703 pre-orders, down from 37,446 last week, for a total of 399.324. The game has grown to 68,000 pre-orders ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3). The game is 12 weeks away from launch in the USA, November 13, 2012.

Notable mentions: Borderlands 2 (X360) added 29,956 pre-orders for a total of 339,190. Assassin’s Creed III (X360) added 12,379 pre-orders for a total of 334,651. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (PC) added 10,225 pre-orders for a total of 115,197.

Requests: Resident Evil 6 (PS3) added 4,594 pre-orders for a total of 70,081. Resident Evil 6 (X360) added 3,957 pre-orders for a total of 63,272. God of War: Ascension (PS3) added 1,356 pre-orders for a total of 43,271. Grand Theft Auto V (X360) added 311 pre-orders for a total of 18,865. Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) added 444 pre-orders for a total of 10,461.

We should have a comparison chart for more then just Halo and Call of Duty. Can't we do one for Assassins Creed or Pokemon?

The combined console Call of Duty gap has grown 4,000 units. BO2 is now tracking 124,000 units behind MW3 during the same time before launch.
