Remade with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, reworked camera and movement controls, and more, Link’s milestone 1998 adventure has been reborn for a whole new era. The first print run of the physical version will commemorate the release with special packaging that features textured foil cover art, available while supplies last.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Coming Nov. 5, the classic adventure is reborn on Nintendo Switch 2 with various enhancements. Details shared in the presentation include:

  • Improved performance and presentation: Visuals have been completely overhauled down to the textures of each material, actions feel snappier and more satisfying, load times are faster, the game runs much smoother, sounds have been refreshed and the game includes symphonic orchestral music.
  • Greater movement and control: Jump and run freely with newly added button commands and enjoy improved camera control with the Right Stick.
  • A more immersive Hyrule: Characters that Link meets are fully voiced during expanded cutscenes and have a great deal more to say. Freely move the camera in fully remodeled locations for a more dynamic experience with various new details. The day/night cycle now continues no matter where you are, even in towns.
  • Threads of Time: At any point during the adventure, see the progress you’ve made in the story and check your next objective. A large tapestry will also gradually fill in as your journey continues.
  • Play ocarina tunes: Hum a song that Link has learned and he’ll play it on his ocarina! The game will also respond to instruments like the new playable and electric ocarinas coming later this year.

Zelda Notes: Additional features for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be found within the Zelda Notes section of the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices. Highlights include:

  • Today’s Record: View a chronological record of your daily accomplishments, see stats such as how many enemies you’ve defeated and more.
  • Gossip Quest: Find a location in the game using a hint image on your smart device to earn points toward music scores for the ocarina in Play Ocarina.
  • Play Ocarina: Use the touchscreen to freely play a virtual ocarina on your smart device. Play along with a guide, listen to it play automatically, or make your own music scores to share via QR code.
  • Ocarina of Time Quiz: Test your knowledge of the game with a quiz containing questions, images and more, with over 2,000 questions in all! The quiz can be taken once a day, or you can spend rupees you’ve earned in the game for extra tries.

This looks seriously good! Hands down my most anticipated game of the year now.

I got the feels watching all of those key moments in the trailer remade so amazingly.

This is the year of Zelda!

Wow those graphics! Best looking Nintendo game ever. Since I'm skipping GtaVI, a game to look forward in november.

while i am a fan of controllers... these are ones i had not really invested in like i do XB and PS. I think i missed my chance to have really gotten into them during the NS1 days.

I don't really have any LE NS1 Pro controller myself, but it does have some I would like to have, the same for the PS4.

Did you get the 25th anniverssary for the Xbox Series? The price here is outragenous so I'll sadly likely not get it unless someone sells used for much lower somewhere down the road, but I think it looks so good...

I did get the x25 controller at least... but i was trying for that console like crazy. Damn scalpers.

Are you also into LE consoles? That must be crazy expensive lol

I am... before consolevariations changed their site, i had quite a profile on there that i could share. Which showcased the over 40 variants in XB and PS systems i have. My Nintendo side is rather small compared to the others, because N wasnt really into themed LE systems like the others. Nice to see them have some now.

Price aside, there are some really nice consoles versions out there, must be a really nice collection.

Looks amazing, hoping to get the bundle pre order. Great release date, as i will be skipping gta6.

Also love the image quality, no motion blur!! What ever they use for anti aliasing / post processing and such, the image clarity is pristine. Unlike many other AAA releases these days.

Compare this masterpiece of a remake to the slop that was Oblivion and Halo Campaign Evolved

One is made with the Heart, the others were made to milk fanboys dry

  • +3
Trentonater apocalypse4ms (on 08 September 2026)

For all their faults I would argue campaign evolved, demon's souls and oblivion all had more cohesive art styles.

Looks great will definitely get that. I love these classic Zelda games. Never really played the original except for the beginning hour

Loved it.

Only a few gripes. Lack of DLSS or anti aliasing and a bit too bright/not enough colour grading. Hyrule filed looks like it could done with a wee bit more redesigning to make it feel less empty but I get they're trying to be very faithful to the OG

  • +1
Scoopz Otter (on 08 September 2026)

There wasnt enough of the field shown to make a fair or accurate assessment of how populated or empty it is in this remake so youre a bit premature with that in my opinion.

For those curious, this is confirmed to be $60 Digital and $70 Physical for pricing.

For sure this looks like the first truly next gen game on S2, not just "better than the Switch", but a massive leap that looks more like a current gen console game. S2 for the first time showing what it is truly capable of. For me the town looked really incredible and really emphasizes the difference between something that feels like a real town in a fantasy story and the very simple early-3D town of the original game.

Two disappointments to me though are:

1) it seems like they didn't really update the fighting/enemies at all. OoT fighting was very good for the 90's in that beginning 3D era, but is very basic for today. For example, seeing the deku plant dudes being the exact same as the original was pretty dang disappointing. So much work went into the game to make it graphically be up to the highest modern standards, and yet the fighting and enemy AI from those videos look still stuck at thirty years ago, much less dynamic and far less interesting fighting and enemies than I'd expect out of a modern game.

2) I was kinda judging the size of the game by Hyrule Field. While I think Hyrule Field is probably bigger (?? i dunno maybe it is roughly the same size as the original, hard to tell from the small part of the field shown so far) I was really looking for it to be an expansive area with lots of stuff to do: wooded areas, creeks, rocky areas, hidden parts to explore, secrets to find, etc. Like a whole mini world to explore rather than just a large field with a horse stable connecting the different areas of the game. It sure looked beautiful, seeing all the different areas of the game in in the distance form Hyrule Field, but I was very much hoping it'd be something you could explore and do things in for hours to really show that hey this is OoT but brought to modern standards of epic adventure.

Overall very cool though. Graphics definitely exceeded expectations. Was very exciting watching the game be introduced today, definitely felt like the first killer game for the S2, the first solid reason to buy the system. But felt more like the type of remake where they make a 30 year old game look like a modern game with a few quality of life improvements, rather than bring a 30 year old GOAT-level game up to the best modern standards that could make it a GOAT-level game for this day and age. For some people this might be exactly what they wanted, but for me once you get over how gorgeous the game is it feels a little flat (at least based on what they showed today) that they didn't do more to make this a game of the decade type of game for modern times the way the original was for its day.

But it is for sure very cool to see OoT remade with the absolute highest modern graphical beauty. If anything, this game just makes me very interested in what the next new 3D Zelda could be - this level of beauty and detail but with a BotW sized adventure!

Technically it would be Super Mario All-Stars. But for modern times, it was RE 1 Remake for Gamecube.

RE1 and Twin Snakes on Gamecube really pushed remakes at the time
