Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3 Release Date - News
by Jake Weston , posted on 08 September 2011 / 3,516 ViewsMax Payne 3 has had something of a rather troubled development cycle, originally supposed to be released in Winter 2009. After years of delays, Rockstar Games has announced that Max Payne 3 will finally drop March 2012.
Unlike the first two games in the series, Max Payne 3 is not being developed by series creator Remedy Entertainment (who developed last year's stellar Alan Wake), but instead being handled by Rockstar Vancouver, of Bully fame. Like the other games, though, Max Payne 3 will focus on single-player, following Max Payne trying to rebuild his life ten years after the tragic events of the last game.
"Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser. "We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story."
Those following Max Payne 3 's stretched out development wouldn't be surprised to hear of another delay for the game, but hopefully this March 2012 release date is the real deal.
