BT Games: PlayStation Move "Coming This July" - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 23 May 2010 / 6,682 ViewsThis page is from BT Games's most recent flyer (see the whole flyer here):

Note the blue section: "Watch out for the PlayStation Move. Coming this July." Wait, what?
Maybe we shouldn't believe everything we read on the internet. Maybe BT Games isn't a real retailer (it totally is). Maybe copy/pasting unfounded news from a site like, say, VG247.com would be a bad idea without checking the sources. (They called BT Games a "US retailer" but I've sure never heard of them, and I've lived in the U.S. since before I was born. Nice try, guys.)
But maybe (just maybe), BT Games actually knows what they're talking about. Remember the 250 GB Xbox 360 Elite bundle? Back in the day, it wasn't a real thing. It was just rumor. Speculation. Possibly fictitious. BT Games leaked it. Do they have the inside scoop again, or can lightning never strike twice? We'll know by the end of the year, at least. (Right, Sony?)

@kain_kusanagi, I don't disagree about the camping! But I think more than just Wii owners will be anxious to get their hands on the Move. I got the PS3 for my family over the Wii because of the Move. The inevitable ports of Wii titles or Wii like clones, original games like EyePet, and to boot the multimedia goodness just hands down tipped the cards. That, and Dad had to have some say, being a gamer too ;)
Sony could do this right even if they release in July, they just need to get the content lined up.
@ darth tigris
I think it could be true. But, my real point is that even if it does release early, I doubt Sony would make Sega's mistake and not let third party developers or HUGE retail outlets in on an early release.
Makes since. I'm currently creating what I believe Sony's conference will have in it.
I've got an idea of July to September 2010.
USA
United States of America
Union of South Africa
That's how you make a mistake like that ... when you are from the UK.
That being said, this seems a bit earlier than expected. But I would not be surprised if it beats Natal to market.
Mike from Morgantown
Earlier is somewhat better, but does Sony have enough software to backup the launch esp so soon? We'll @ E3 I guess...
July would be a smart move by Sony get the jump on MS hopefully getting a good install base from the summer holiday crowd of parents wanting to keep their kids amused.
@fukudalakasone
lol? sure the Wii will probably reach its lowest numbers ever in the weeks move and natal launch, and sure it will never again reach its old numbers without a price cut.. but nintendo will be far from d0med
worst release date ever , soon after E3 no one will give it attention , in july i sure that there will not be any worth buying titles, and also it will give no time to create the hype , but as always another great sony marketing decision ...
Hmm it makes sense - release it earlier than Microsoft and profit from Stand alone versions being bought by early adopters then when MS releases Natal strike with PS3+Move bundle.
Smart move Sony.
Nobody will even notice Move in July. Everyone will be too busy camping and enjoying the summer. Natal will destroy the fall/holiday season with marketing and Xbox 360 redesign/price cuts. I just don't see Move apealing to anyone other than Wii owners and they all already have Wiis.
I think Sony should release it early. People can get a feel of it early and they release the games for the holidays.
the earlier the better is my personal opinion on that, but I hope they have some games/patches rdy or an early release could do more harm than good for the device
Well, being a South African, I can at least say that BT games is a reputable company. They often have ads on television and partnerships with SA's bigger game magazines.
If this is indeed true, then Nintendo are in serious serious trouble...
Smart move Sony.
@thismeintiel
Everything you stated is truth. So you think this is fake? Or is Sony trying to get a jump on a more hyped product (thus my comparison)?
@Darth Tigris
Except Sega pulled a suprise launch on not just the consumers, but the developers, as well. It meant most games by third parties were nowhere near complete for launch and most, if not all, launch titles were by Sega. This angered third parties, as well retailers not involed in the suprise early launch (like Wal-mart), so much that many decided to back Nintendo and Sony, instead. Another factor was Saturn was $100 more expensive than the PS1.
I doubt Sony would be dumb enough to screw over it's second and third party developers, and HUGE retailers, like that.
Hmmm ... I remember Sega did something similar with the Saturn launch. How did that go over again ...?
@ fededx
Well, Nintendo did very well for themsleves with EyeToy: Play Sports Wii, so why not?
@ icyedge
Thanks for the support. :-)
But the latest Move trailer on PSN said Fall 2010....
Fededs, we all know its not the same technology at all, only similar concept. You and other random Nintendo's fans use those analogy constantly to downplay what is happening somewhere else. Thismeintel gaved a well explained personal predicton about Move and you answer with an empty sarcastic comment. This isnt nice.
Looks like Sony and PS3 is here to play, since slim they have been selling very well, and it looks to continue. PS3 will be the 2nd console of choice. In my book its the first console of choice, I know the sales well, mostly because its a home gym for moms, But my PS3 and 360 give me a superb gaming experience like no other. Sony and PS move I believe will do much better then Natal. Finally the best of both Worlds !!!!
@thismeintiel
Yas one hell of a show, with Wii Sports HD!
actually, natal isn't as good as it originally sounded. they got rid of the processor, and it has 100-200 ms lag times...I wouldn't want that. Do that online, ur looking at 200-300 ms lag.
holy crap! Playstation will have a huge lead on 360 with natal, which may mean it will never get behind. Anybody notice how the ps3 costs way more than the 360 there?
I doubt it.
If this is true, then Sony must have one hell of a show planned for E3. Have a great showing of Move at E3, with great software, then announce a July release date. If they do have a good line-up and price, this would be the best offense against Natal. This would give them a 3 month lead on Natal's Oct. release, which would definitely take some wind out of MS's sails.
PS3 is selling much more than Elite.
some serious profit there. If Sony can release Move early and in final form (no more half-baked product), it will do well.
Well, they would have it out before Natal if they do this...but they need strong software to back it up.
if this is true sony is really bad at keeping secrets maby they wanted to surprise us at e3 and say "guess what move is coming out in like 3 weeks!"
Didnt they change the date to Fall 2010?
in a couple of weeks we will know
For some reason I thought this got released back in February or March... I need to pay more attention to gaming news I guess...
Getting out ahead of time might be a good idea, although if they came out suddenly - they'd have to do some fast advertising to let people know that they're out. Usually they hype a date so the public (their prospective market) knows they're in stores.
OMW BT games made the internet lol, i buy all my games from this shop....and yes it is a real retailer...its south africa's biggest games retailer i think. And the currency thats used is the rand, and i think at this point in time 1 US dollar = R8 and 1 euro = R10. I might be slighly off with my exchange rates though but thats roughly correct. And as u can see things are still quite pricey here in South Africa
That would be awesome. They get a great time-advantage with this.
Also this seems very plausible. From the videos we've seen so far Move looks pretty much finished. Natal however, might still need some time to be polished.
If they launch it then, it might be a nice way to gain a time-advantage over Natal. If they can pull some bells and whistles to mimick Natal's abilities, it might the best shot Sony has
Cool Less than a month till we find out for sure!!
what currency is this using look at those prices...
i think it will be september personally as sony always has said a fall release for ps move, for at least a couple of months.
I bet it's just speculation. Then when E3 arrives and Sony announces Move for July, then I'll be eating my words.
