Ballistic Moon, the developer of the enhanced version of Until Dawn, has announced via LinkedIn it has been hit with layoffs.

"As the games industry continues to face complex challenges, we at Ballistic Moon are confronted with some difficult realities," reads the post from Ballistic Moon.

"It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we must make the tough decision to significantly scale down our team to secure the future of our studio. This comes after our development of Until Dawn for PS5 and PC.

"We want to express our sincere gratitude to every team member for their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Ballistic Moon.

"Saying goodbye to such a talented and passionate group of people is incredibly difficult, and we are profoundly sorry for the impact this restructuring will have on our employees and their families.

"As we navigate this transition, Ballistic Moon remains focused on supporting the launch of Until Dawn and is committed to exploring new opportunities and collaborations for the future."

The enhanced version of Until Dawn will launch for the PlayStation 5 and PC on October 4.

LOL Until Dawn was a PS4 exclusive that released in 2015. It's more or less an interactive movie. Sony owns the IP and they decided to remake the game for some reason lol. But, Sony had a falling out with the games original developers, so they partnered with this new studio.

Why they remade the game is beyond belief. I think sony playstation need a management change.

Ryan retired in April. SIE now has Co-CEOs with Herman Hulst and Hideaki Nishino. Too soon for them to make any sort of fundamental changes

Usually a studio moves on to the next project and even hires more to work on their next project rather than laying off just because they're done with one.

The last few years layoffs have been the trend due to over-hiring during the covid era, because the Industry itself is shrinking a bit since that time, whilst growth was projected.

This is Ballistic Moon's first game though. They were only founded in 2019. It would make sense if it were contract workers, but these were employees that were laid off.

Worse, they were in the works of their own game too. Downsizing won't help the work on such a project, if it can be worked on anymore that is ...

Has nothing to do with Sony. What Ballistic Moon does in their own company is all on them.

Except it has everything to do with Sony seeing as how they own Ballistic Moon. Sony is there parent company.
