I don't see how the Series X|S can sell more than even the xbox one at this point, it was always going to be hard to outsell the 360 but now that they're somehow selling even less consoles than the One and that some of their games are about to go multiplatform i don't see that changing

I agree with you on that point and during the xbox 360 era it came out at the right time.

There are really only two hopes for Series outselling Xbox One and hitting 60 million or a bit above.

  1. Aggressive permanent price cuts: Admittedly, Microsoft would be taking big losses here if it happens mid-life instead of end of life.
  2. Manufacturing Xbox Series longer than Xbox One but Point 1 (price cuts) would probably have to happen to sell enough consoles.

I don't think they are going to surpass 40m by much. They are already bracing for a 40% hit in hardware sales this quarter.

Do you have a link where they specified 40%? I can find them saying they expect hardware to decline this quarter but I've not seen them say by how much.

That's pre-multi format announcement too. At this rate I can't see X|S even hitting 40 Mil

That chart shows you why Xbox is done. They completely died in the last 5 months, before any announcements about multi plats. The Xbox Series was outselling the 360 and then died 5 months ago. Time to move on. Good luck Xbox!

That's a mighty looking cliff chart !

But yeah, after the hopeful first years and Xbox now clearly indicating their willingness to adopt other competitive platforms, you just don't see how it is possible for them to get back in the groove to even compete with it's previous consoles.
This gonna get a leeway for Sony to boost its PS5 numbers probably

Once Kinect and Xbox 360 S release in the time aligned, Xbox Series X/S will get pummeled. by millions.
