Insider Claims N64 Games Coming to Nintendo Switch Online - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 September 2021 / 2,102 ViewsA report released earlier this month from sources and insider NateDrake claims Nintendo is working to add Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to its Nintendo Switch Online service "really soon." A second report from Eurogamer corroborated these reports and stated other retro platforms are on the table to be added to Nintendo Switch Online.
The insider now says one of these other retro platforms coming to Nintendo Switch Online are Nintendo 64 games.
"Eurogamer went one step further, having noted that additional platforms will also be added to Nintendo Switch Online in the future," said the Insider. "And today I would like to add to that, yes - that information is accurate and one of the platforms that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch Online in the future is the revolutionary Nintendo 64."
NateDrake believes Nintendo 64 games on Nintendo Switch Online would be part of a new more expensive tier,
"What I'm going to propose, is that when Nintendo 64 does come to Nintendo Switch Online it is going to come with a higher-priced tier - a premium version of Nintendo Switch Online, if you will. I don't think they would try to double the price of it... I'd come in at $30 a year, $35 would be the ceiling, any more than that I think Nintendo would be really pushing things."
The Insider isn't sure when Nintendo would add Nintendo 64 games to Nintendo Switch Online, however, he guesses it would be in the current fiscal year.
"I would give a very realistic probability that it happens in the current fiscal year...but that's a guess. I mean that's a guess but you know, we will find out as we said, September is the month of reveals, the anniversary of the platform itself, so hopefully, we have some news about Nintendo Switch Online this month, but there is no rule that it has to come this month."

Mario 64
Going by history Nintendo would be the obstacle to those games appearing and not Microsoft. We know Nintendo blocked the goldeneye remake at the last second because they consider it to be a Nintendo game.
Okay, but they blocked Goldeneye because it was a remake for XBLA. This would be their platform, so they wouldn't block it so arbitrarily like that.
I think making two tiers is a great idea, actually. One for online play only, and another that has playable games. Let the people decide etc.
Games tied to online is a bad idea, unless someone plans to pay for online on Nintendo forever. I'd rather pay for the games I want, in my case I cant complain because I get them all free and I do not need online to play them on the switch, if my switch wasn't hacked I'd never pay for online and therefore never have those games but I would be willing to pay for some games I want.
i hope so i want to replay zelda 64 tried it many times over the years always got stuck at water temple
Same with Gameboy online, I'll believe it when I see it
Great news, I get it for free so I'm happy to have N64 games in there. On the other hand I get way better graphics on my PC emulator, but could be nice to have zeldas portable.
To be honest I'd rather have both zeldas remastered. I already have mario 64 on the mario 3d collection. Most other games are way outdated compared to todays, like golden eye the controls were really awful. Star fox could be good but the one from wiiU is coming with way better graphics.
One game I'd love to have is Wave race, could be great portable. Oh and pilot wings.
But knowing Nintendo, they will never put those games, they will put games no one has heard of.
Then again, there's so many switch and ps5 games coming all the time I don't think I'll ever have time to go back to n64.
I have at least around 50 switch games that I need to play at the moment and more will come all the time. I still haven't even finished zelda lol
Maybe Nintendo fans wont need Rares Replay afterall
It's a guess, I mean, but a likely guess. Since September is the month of reveales, so. I pulled it out of my ass because I think it's likely. I guess. But it's not guaranteed, since, you know, I pulled it out of my ass, I guess. But it's a very realistic probability. I guess. Hopefully I'm right, but, you know, I am insider after all, you know, and I like pulling things out of my ass, I guess. And since I am smart, I guess it will be a second pay tier, because, you know, I am an insider and I like to guess about realistic probabilities.
