Little Big Planet Hits 1 Million Levels

by Carl Rushworth, posted on 22 July 2009 / 8,187 Views

This week, the Little Big Planet community uploaded the 1 millionth level since the game was released last year.

According to Media Molecule, it averages at a level being created every 21 seconds since the games launch. The time to play through all the levels on average, would take almost 5 years, and that's if you were playing 24 hours a day. The 1 million levels have been played over 244 million times.

Media Molecule have promised a special surprise on August 18th, and we will be sure to bring you the news.

Very impressive. Sony really needs to get more games of this caliber on the PS3.

tedsteriscool (on 23 July 2009)

Wow! Fantastic for Media Molecule! The number of plays will pass the PS install base (PS+PS2+PS3) soon!

LBP continues to grow bigger and bigger.

This is an awesome game, and it's best with other people. My only peeve is that they charge for EVERYTHING! Seriously, why would anyone pay money for a costume and sticker pack? Those should all be free, although I can understand charging for the MGS pack.

This is great, one of the best games on the PS3, no the best game on the ps3. The game continue to grow in quality as time passes, LBP is a game I wish sony would bundle with every PS3, it would get alot of people to get a PS3. It really is an amazing title.

Haven't played it myself, but I own it and my kids love it. They've played some great user created levels. Really fun and challenging. LittleBigSaw is rather brutal, but morbidly entertaining. There is a series of dessert survival levels that are fun too.

Impressive accomplishment for an impressive game.

1 million levels created... 244 million plays. That shows how much people want to make games and how much people want to play games. The same thing happened with Spore, with these press releases that were supposed to be really impressive, but actually seemed kind of pathetic. If 2.28 million people own the game, and the game is based around creating your own levels, then 1 million levels created is just sad.

Reasonable (on 22 July 2009)

How nice to know I contributed in a small way to the million! Amazing level of content, even with 90% being fairly poor that still leaves an insane number of amazing levels - really, in terms of value for money LBP is just crazy.

coolbeans (on 22 July 2009)

Gratz LBP, although I hate that about 90-95% of them are pretty meh or terrible altogether.

snyperdud (on 22 July 2009)

244 million plays? Holy shit, Very nice MM.

Tridrakious (on 22 July 2009)

I loved the game and it actually got some of my Xbox 360 brethen to get excited for the PS3 once I forced them to play it.(A tactic Sony might want to start using). Of coarse then I fell out of it, cuz the early user created levels sucked and I didn't have the will to create my own. (tried, but I just couldn't will myself to put in the time needed)

mtlca66 (on 22 July 2009)

sabby_e17 (on 22 July 2009)
