Grand Theft Auto IV No Longer Available for Purchase on Steam - News

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV is no longer available for purchase on Steam. The Steam page is still up, however, the buy button is no longer available. This was discovered by a member on ResetEra. Those who own the game are still able to play it.

PCGamer does point out that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was removed from Steam for a short period of time in 2012 due to a copyright claim over the song "Wanna Be Startin' Something" by Michael Jackson.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are still available for purchase on Steam.

Here is an overview of the game:

What does the American dream mean today?
For Niko Bellic fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape from his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and get dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't.

  • New high resolution technology brings Liberty City to life with even more stunning graphical detail
  • Expanded multiplayer will require even more strategy and skill to come out on top
  • Custom Match allows you to pick your favorite multiplayer options and then instantly find online matches that fit
  • Optimized for PC controls and Xbox 360 controller

Oh yeah, I love the lack of checkpoints and friends always bugging you to hang.

GTAIV has a shitty campaign, but the DLC campaigns with great. Now I feel like downloading them on my X1X.

Just prefer the story and characters, also hated playing three of them.

Agree 100%. The story is better in IV and the three main characters in V all suck in different ways.

The characters in GTAV were much more developed, love them or hate them. The story in GTAIV was sloppier than the latest Star Wars movies.

All I know about Niko is he was an immigrant with no personality.

Good riddance. That version is a mess. It uses GFW which is a pain to get working. If you get past GFW, the game is broken on many modern PCs. This game needs a remaster. Just pirate this version if you really want it.

If digital wants to become the main selling method for the videogame industry, they ought to do something with the music licenses. A whole game can dissapear because one song, something that can't happen in retail.

Not really valid here. They have released numerous GTA games. They should do the same with GTAIV. Especially on PC given that version is so broken.

Typo, I meant they RERELEASED numerous GTA games. I believe you can still buy them on consoles as well. Most notably X1X and eventually Series X.

Therefore this might have something to do with the PC version being crap.

The article seems to be duplicated.

I deleted this game off my PS3 ages ago, thinking if I wanted to play it again, I'd just buy it on steam. After reading these comments, I better turn on both my PS3s and redownload the game, as I have been wanting to play it again.

This was a nightmare on PC and even though this obviously being removed for a remaster I will not go back, even with a remaster.

hopefully there will be some kind of remaster, even better if it's free for someone how already owns gta4. I never completed it because at the time it was a horrible pc port. later on it felt to outdated but I still plan to replay it some day.
