Xbox Live Arcade Sales Top20, May 2009 - News

In the new-format XBLA Charts (the Top-20), we see a very familiar game dominate - Castle Crashers. It seems, however, that the market took a major plunge, as Castle Crashers took a significant 70% plunge from last month.

Recent holdovers such as Outrun Online Arcade, Peggle, and The Dishwasher all remained strong with Top 10 finishes, with other familiar titles in the Top 10.

New titles in the Top 20 include Space Invaders Extreme at #10, and $129,000 and Araknoid Live! just under $84,000.

7 Blazing Birds

Expect a stronger June thanks to Sega's classics collection. The worst Sega title has already managed to top Blazing Bird's May revenue (which is, AFAIK, Phantasy Star II sadly), while the best, Gunstar Heroes, has already topped 6,000.

Also coming soon (if it works out right): Combined XBLA/WiiWare/VC Top20.

Would it be possible to add a column for days since launch? It would be great to see the average sales per day. Its a shame the chart has shrunk, it was very useful to the games industry.

Pac-Man go go go! I love that guy.

But where is Bejeweled 2 on that list? I would have thought it was in top 5 constantly.

Hey thanks for the update, i know youve gone down to top 20 because im guessing you are a busy person and all, but is there any chance well see all the games again? Maybe like a one off every few months or something?

Also, how much of the Outrun came from Japan?

I am amazed at Uno.

Strategyking92 (on 15 June 2009)

damn, sega has alot of games coming out for the XBLA.
Outrun, virtual on, and now their "classics".

Uh, will we still get an entire chart overview sometime in the future? Like Bi-yearly?

@Burning Typhoon why do you need d-pad when you have best analog sticks ever in a controller.

Typhoon -

Mass Effect? Fable 2? Forza 2? Crackdown? As a hardcore RPG-er, I'm in heaven with what the 360 offers. At any rate, XBLA has about 100-150 games that PSN doesn't have.

@Burning Typhoon
Did your post come from 2007 or something. 360 hasnt had many AAA exclusive FPS in the last few years...Leaft 4 Dead, anything else?

You want a great game not on ps3 and not an FPS? How about Dead Rising? How about MAss Effect? How about Forza 2 (or 3)?

I'm about to get castle crashers, love love the demo.

Burning Typhoon (on 14 June 2009)

I'd love to get castle crashers on PS3. I just refuse to buy anything on 360 (many reasons, but, mostly because of d-pad, and lack of things to make me really want to play it).

Name a good game on 360 that's not a FPS, and not already available on PS3. I don't like how there's a swamp of FPS, and that's all 360 seems to have.

Gearbox:

The pacing of the new titles is just the ranking of them between new releases, and not overall sales.

And yes, The Dishwasher is doing very well. Not the best 09 release quite yet, but it's done very well.

Wallace and Gromit didnt do so well.

Man, the dishwasher guy is making a mint from his game. Safe to say hes not washing dishes anymore.

Braid was #21 for the month. We're working on having the complete charts, but there's a reason for there only being a Top 20. In a few weeks, you'll find out why :-)

  • 0
JPL78 (on 14 June 2009)

Outrun is 10 dollars not 15, unless they decided to change the price after I bought it.

  • 0
PullusPardus (on 14 June 2009)

the list seems to not change .... at all o_O;

  • 0
De85 (on 14 June 2009)

Are we only ever going to get the top 20 now, or will the full charts just be more infrequent? I still like to see how some other titles like Braid do.

mrstickball (on 14 June 2009)

That was 1 million unique users. Not sales.

DirtyP2002 (on 14 June 2009)

Castle Crashers is close to 1 million. They announced this a few weeks ago.
