Capcom Unsure About Porting PS4 and Xbox One Games to Switch Due to Different Direction and Play-style - News

Capcom said during its FY2016 Q2 Question and Answer Summary attended by VideoGamer it is currently looking into porting some of its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title to the Nintendo Switch. However, the company is unsure if it makes sense due to the different directions and play styles.

"We are currently carrying out research with regards to multiplatform implementation of software for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on to the Nintendo Switch," said Capcom.

"However, we do feel that there are differences in the desired direction and the play-style of the Nintendo Switch and those of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. At Capcom, we determine which platform to release a title for after considering the features of both our software and the hardware in question, believing we must bring the enjoyment of our games to their maximum potential.

"As a software publisher, we endeavour to develop games that offer enjoyment best suited to each piece of hardware's features and target users. Following first party, in order to introduce our own content we are currently moving forward with internal planning and analysis as a partner company."

I hope this means they will design their games to catter the Nintendo userbase more, and not just they being too lazy to port PS4/XBOne to the Switch.

And so it begins...

You will see as many ports as on Android / IOS because the Switch is no home console since it has mobile hardware and CPU power only. It is simply impossible to port console games without heavy modification due to the slow hardware of the switch. The low power ARM-CPU of the switch is slower than the Wii-U CPU.

Any sources to back up your claim about the CPU?

Just Google for Switch Tegra or look at ARM vs AMD64 CPU benchmarks at passmark.com . The old PS4 CPU is multiple time faster than any ultra low power ARM CPU.

That means you can forget about a majority of multiplats and many shitty ports are on the way IMO....

Switch will have third party support of mobile developers. Expect the huge quality of IOS and Android ports.

If this was 1998, I'd be really pissed but Capcom's glory days are over.

Capcom is a big wishy washy bucket of "We don't know how to manage ourselves and are only successful through sheer luck".

IF there's porting from the PS4/Xbox One to Switch, it should go both ways. Make Monster Hunter available for PS4/Xbox One as well. Titles like that.

I have a feeling Nintendo won't be embracing online gaming the way we know it on the Xbox One and ps4...as per usual. This makes ports seem like less of a value.
