Sony Considering PlayStation VR Support for PC

Sony Considering PlayStation VR Support for PC - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 29 March 2016 / 5,030 Views

Sony is launching its virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR, in October for the PlayStation 4. Sony executive vice president Masayasu Ito has stated that Sony is looking into expanding the platform into different areas.

"The possibility exists since the PlayStation 4 shares many of its parts with the PC," said Ito in an interview with Nikkei. "At the moment, we're concentrating on games so I have nothing to announce at this point, but we're looking to expand in a variety of areas."

In order for PlayStation VR to be supported on the PC, Sony would need to develop software, as well as add PC support for the PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controllers.

I always thought that the Morpheus should support both PS and PC. Being the only VR headset to work on both console and desktop would be a huge advantage for it and also save the consumer redundancy. That said, seeing how we don't even have official driver support for the DS4, you might not wanna hold your breath on this one.
