Revenue for video games will hit $92 billion this year, according to IHS. That figure is more than the total for movies and music combined. Movies will earn $62 billion, while music will earn $18 billion.

Digital sales will account for 80 percent of video game revenue. This is a notably higher percentage than the other entertainment sectors, with 40 percent of movie revenue being digital and 50 percent of music revenue being digital.

46 percent of video game revenue will be earned in Asia Pacific, while North America and Europe will each account for 24 percent. China is expected to top the US this year to become the largest market.

Well considering games cost around...let's day 4-6 times more than seeing a movie and a CD(a song - like 45 times more), both of those without any 300+ consoles

Adding up to me a big chunk of it....I don't see it as that impressive tbh. It should be bigger than both combined...

So if Digital is 80% of sales I would imagine this is including mobile gaming? I am excited to see this none the less and think what do all the people that say gaming is a waste of time think now? It is awesome time to be gamer and an even better time for those talented and driven enough to be employed in the industry.

It must include mobile, because with consoles and handhelds, retail is still a preferred method of purchase with most consumers.

Doesn't surprise me. Its easier to download or watch online or listen to movies and music than download a game and play it on a modded console.

Not to mention gaming haa 300-480 dollar consoles and 60 dollar games with 15-40 dollar games as well kind of makes this unimpressive, it should be doing gang buster numbers.
