Kickstarter: 465 Games Successfully Funded, Amount of Money Dropped by 50% - News

Earlier this month Kickstarter announced that the amount of money pledged for games were down 15 percent year-over-year in 2014 to $89.1 million, according to MCVUK.

The majority of that money pledged was for board games and if you take them out the decline is much larger. There was just $29 million pledged towards video games in 2014, which is down by 50 percent when compared to 2013.

"While the amount pledged to video game projects was down last year, there were actually more successful projects in 2014 than in any other year – 465 versus 438 in 2013," said Kickstarter community manager Luke Crane. "There were fewer blockbusters, but a healthy mix of really diverse smaller projects."
