The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.
3DS Vs. PlayStation Vita Global:
Gap change in latest month: 352,375 – 3DS
Gap change over last 12 months: 10,990,438 – 3DS
Total Lead: 35,623,660 – 3DS
3DS Total Sales: 43,280,936
PlayStation Vita Total Sales: 7,657,276
In the latest month the gap grew another 352,375 units in favor of the 3DS. The current gap at the end of February 2014 is 35,623,660 and is showing no signs of shrinking. Also over the last 12 months the 3DS has sold 10,990,438 million more units than the Vita.
The 3DS did beat the PlayStation Vita to the market by 10 months. The 3DS launched in February 2011, while the Vita launched in December 2011. The 3DS has sold 43.28 million units, while the Vita has sold 7.66 million units.
