Looking at the top 10 bestselling games on the PlayStation, one game was released in 1996, three were released in 1997, three were released in 1998, and three were released in 1999.

The top 10 bestselling games on the PlayStation sold a combined 79.08 million games. Only one game, Gran Turismo, sold 10 million or more units. However all 10 games did sell six million or more units.

When you compare first party to third party, there are five first party games and five third party games. Taking a look at the top 10 bestselling games on the PlayStation as a graph really shows how important three franchises were to the success of the PlayStation. As a quick note here are other software sales for the PlayStation: The top 18 games sold five million or units and the top 66 games sold two million or more units. 206 games sold one million or more units and 383 games sold 500,000 or more units.

We couldn't have found this info ourselves by simply clicking on PS1 in the Game DB? Pointless feature.

crazy to see this list and not see a single Ridge racer game on there, for me that was probably the most iconic Psone game since it was exactly the same as the Arcade version of the game.... was pretty much the console that killed arcades outright with it's amazing ports of arcade games.

Never even heard that much of Driver. Then I looked it up and saw on the front game case it says made by the creators of Destruction Derby 1 & 2. Shame that I somehow missed that game back in the day. Looks like Burnout and a few other games got a decent amount of influence from this game.

Driver took the World by storm back then. Nobody had experienced such a rich Crime world with luscious ambience and great 3d gameplay (we knew GTA 1 back then, but no comparison)
They had the GTA kind of genre by the throat but gave it away.....Driv3r anyone???
