Overview
There are two games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, Resident Evil 6 and NBA 2K13, both for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. As a reminder the Pro data is back up, which means that I am taking requests again for games outside the top 20.
The top five games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top 12 has 100,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week. Seven games added 20,000 or more, up from four last week and 10 added 10,000 or more, down from 11 last week.
Games in Final Week Before Launch
Resident Evil 6 (PS3) added 21,418 pre-orders for a grand total of 132,371. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 200,000 to 300,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.3 million and 1.5 million units lifetime.
- Resident Evil 5 (PS3, 2009) – 337,453 week one USA, 1.66 million to date
Resident Evil 6 (X360) added 18,116 pre-orders for a grand total of 115,812. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 200,000 to 300,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.4 million and 1.6 million units lifetime.
- Resident Evil 5 (X360, 2009) – 522,043 week one USA, 1.76 million to date
NBA 2K13 (X360) added 38,189 pre-orders for a grand total of 114,207. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 200,000 to 300,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.8 million and 2.0 million units lifetime.
- NBA 2K12 (X360, 2011) – 264,691 week one USA, 1.97 million to date
NBA 2K13 (PS3) added 21,133 pre-orders for a grand total of 81,756. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 175,000 to 225,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 1.3 million and 1.4 million units lifetime.
- NBA 2K12 (PS3, 2011) – 210,050 week one USA, 1.37 million to date
Major Performers – Week Ending October 6
FIFA 13 (X360) sales are expected to drop to around 60,000 units in its second week. The PlayStation 3 version is expected to drop to around 53,000 units. The Wii version is expected to drop to around 4,000 units.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (PC) sales are expected to drop to around 100,000 units in its second week.
Dead or Alive 5 (PS3) sales are expected to drop to around 18,000 units in its second week.
Overall hardware sales are expected to increase slightly.
Other Hot Games
Halo 4 (X360) has added 38,322 pre-orders, up from 34,370 last week, for a total of 738,567. The game has fallen 7,000 units behind Halo: Reach during the same number of weeks before release. The game is six weeks away from launch in the USA, November 6, 2012.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) added 54,438 pre-orders, up from 39,584 last week, for a total of 876,284. The game has grown to 419,000 pre-orders behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) during the same number of weeks before release. The game is seven weeks away from launch in the USA, November 13, 2012.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3) added 25,802 pre-orders, up from 15,300 last week, for a total of 499,989. The game is now just 13,000 pre-orders ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3). The game is seven weeks away from launch in the USA, November 13, 2012.
Notable mentions: Assassin’s Creed III (X360) added 19,831 pre-orders for a total of 405,297. Pokémon Black / White Version 2 (DS) added 21,803 pre-orders for a total of 151,652. Medal of Honor: Warfighter (X360) added 8,665 pre-orders for a total of 76,086.
Requests: Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation (PSV) added 4,053 pre-orders for a total of 31,954. God of War: Ascension (PS3) added 2,622 pre-orders for a total of 53,196.

I'm sorry, but those halo 4 and b ops 2 numbers seem way off. vgchartz, your estimations are getting off.
I'm sure there accurate, the problem for halo is that they've dropped the ball on the marketing I haven't seen ads anywhere but forward unto dawn and gamefuel should help, as for cod I guess people are just finally sick of the same crap every year. Just around my school I can tell it has way less hype than mw3

This has been bugging me for a while, but WTF @ Luigi's Mansion? I LOVE Luigi's Mansion, but there is no way that I can seriously believe that it had more preorders than X-Box's RE6 a week before that game released when Luigi's Mansion has no release date yet. Something is off here.

Well, up until recently, Halo 4 was on track to beat Reach but now the pre orders or slowing rapidly. Maybe the competition will be too much this year? Who knows.
nah, its probably just vghcartz tracking. they highly estimate their numbers. just look at their gears of war 3 estimations.
Interesting, even though 360 user base is bigger now in the US, shooter games are looking to sell less then before. That is if VGC is to be trusted lol.
Well 2 big fps games are taking sales from each other + Assassin's Creed 3 is releasing about the same time aswell.

I think they're really overestimating RE 6. I highly doubt it'll reach 1 million for PS3 or 360. Both versions will have a strong first week, but their run in the top 50 will probably be short lived.
