Xbox CEO Asha Sharma in an interview with The New York Times says "Xbox is not for sale" and the team will do whatever it takes to be set up for success.

"Xbox is not for sale," said Sharma. "We will do whatever it takes to set the company up for success, and we will look at the right partnerships, the right operating model and everything needed to achieve that."

She did admit that Xbox has "a long way to go with Microsoft and we're going to take the long-term view."

Sharma discussing TV shows and movies says they will continue to work with Sony and that "competition and collaboration can coexist."

"I don’t think you sign up for roles like this for work-life balance," she said. "I think you signed up for them because you believe in the mission and you do what it takes."

"I don’t think you sign up for roles like this for work-life balance," she said.

Isn't morale already very low due to constant layoffs and burnout culture?

Locked behind a paywall, but I wonder if she's talking about her job or those of others as well. Makes all the difference.

She meant her role, if she truly wants to make xbox great again. But I don't see it happening.

Only some of the wealthiest most eccentric billionaires who doesn't care about a potential money pit. Musk has enough money to buy it. So do a few others.
I don't think any corporation is dumb enough to buy Xbox. It would cost over 100 billion right now when included with Microsoft Gaming and is a gamble.

Musk had enough money to buy twitter but he still borrowed it. Billionaires don't spend money. They spend other peoples and companies money.

I mean wherever you enjoy video games. Fun is the name of the game, if that is what you have gotten from Xbox that's all that matter. For me not so much, they are a far distant third place..

Flip the list you're looking at. The many closed studios and cancelled games keep them at the very bottom of the list. I won't even get into sales figures; you're wearing blinders.

I need to circle back to this at the end of 2027 by which point I suspect XGS will have no game-production studios left, and reliant on Activision and Bethesda who don’t make exclusive titles.

Confusing statement...cuz why would anyone want to buy it?? It's not like there are companies beating down Microsoft's door to be able to control the failing console brand in what at least right now is a shrinking industry.
