Founded in 2000, RedLynx has developed more than 100 high-quality titles in the digital space. Trials, the company's flagship brand, is one of the best-selling games ever on Xbox LIVE Arcade with over two million paid downloads between the main game and its two DLCs.
"The team at RedLynx has developed exceptionally strong digital brands that stand out for their high replay value, their long tail sales and their multiplatform positioning," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. "We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms."
With the acquisition of RedLynx, Ubisoft is continuing to focus on expanding its online portfolio and infrastructure. Since 2008, the publisher has acquired Massive Entertainment and Nadeo, two developers known for their multiplayer games. It has also acquired Quazal, whose technology was used in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's multiplayer mode, and Owlient, a company with expertise in the management of online game-playing communities.
