VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.
This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.
Note that our estimates are based on sell-through data (units sold to consumers). In almost all cases the figures released by console manufacturers are based on shipment data (sell-in), where as soon as a device has left the factory and entered the supply chain for delivery it is considered a sale. This is why there is always a difference between the companies’ figures (sell-in) and VGChartz estimates (sell-through), even after we’ve made adjustments. The one exception to that is when a console has been discontinued and the remaining stock has finally sold out – at that point the figures will match.

Woaaaah!!! Those PS5 numbers are MASSIVE in Europe!!!
Considering that the PS5 has been behind PS4 in europe for a while now, i certainly didn't expect it to have the best month for a PS console in europe that this site has ever seen
Now the PS5 selling what everyone expected from Europe. The fact the Switch was down so little is great for it's age. Now Xbox... Microsoft really needed to have holiday sales for all their consoles. I really don't know what's going on over there.
They've given up with discounts. No point losing money on hardware, when no matter how much they improve the sales of platform, they won't beat PlayStation.
It's not about "beating" Playstation. It's about increasing your userbase. The more consoles you sell the more subscriptions, games, accessories, and microtransactions you can sell. If Microsoft truly wanted to beat Playstation then they would make every Bethesda and Activision game exclusive (except COD since they have a contract in place).
There is no XSX in Poland at all. The XSS is still available sometimes, but the X model is nowhere to be found. If you do find the SX in a store, it will reach the price of the PS5 Pro. The official MS announcement is "high supply and will be available after the new year". Well... Parents simply bought their children a PS5 instead of an Xbox for Christmas.
There is speculation that MS is deliberately withdrawing from Eastern Europe, focusing on PC GamePass and the cloud there and giving up the stationary console.
It's a shame because the XSX is a fantastic piece of equipment. I've had it since the premiere and I'm delighted, but MS is killing it off on its own.
Can this really be true? A 11:1 ratio for the PS5 over the X|S in Europe?
I can't remember any other month in history the Playstation outsold Xbox at this level.
EU PS5 numbers overtook America and PS5 worldwide pulled a 4 million month most likely
Finally! Impressive numbers for the PS5. The Switch being only down by -5.7% compared to the same month a year ago is also incredible, considering its age
This being the case in Americas+JP as well, it's starting to look like NSW may not see any YoY drops this holiday! For the holiday month of a "Twilight Year", that's pretty shocking.
The Switch didn’t have a particularly strong November last year but its December was excellent, so next months sales will be more telling
Finally the report came out. I was worried that we wouldn't have any more reports from Europe
I was afraid we had to wait until next week
I just read trunk's comment about it
Sony will prolly announce 70 million sold thru at ces 2025, then proceed to drop gta6 trailer.
