The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.

This monthly series compares the aligned US sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 launched in the US in November 2005, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

August 2023 is the 78th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for in the US. During the latest month, the Xbox 360 has outsold the Nintendo Switch by 77,206 units.

In the last 12 months, the Xbox 360 has outsold the Nintendo Switch by 1.88 million units. The Switch is currently ahead of the Xbox 360 by 7.62 million units.

The 78th month for the Nintendo Switch is August 2023 and for the Xbox 360 it is April 2012. The Switch has sold 41.97 million units, while the Xbox 360 sold 34.35 million units during the same timeframe. The Xbox 360 sold current Switch sales in month 97.

The Xbox 360 sold 43.75 million units in the US during its lifetime. The Switch needs to sell another 1.78 million units to outsell the Xbox 360 in the US.

The 360 had a crazy end to its cycle but even that late flurry won't dethrone the NS which still has a lot of life as well

I'm surprised the 360 has been outselling Switch over the last year, considering how close it was to the end of its life.

The 360 launched in 2005 so this is still a year and a half before the launch of the Xbox One. The 360 also had a really weird sales curve due to the Kinect fad the last couple of years.

True I forgot the 360 was out for 8 years when the X1 released. Thats a crazy long lifespan for a console.

Yeah I know Kinect gave it a huge boost but I'm still surprised it could outsell Switch this late in the gen.
