by William D'Angelo , posted on 03 June 2021 / 3,115 ViewsDeveloper CD Projekt RED has been focused on fixing all of the issues with Cyberpunk 2077. The science-fiction action RPG launched with a multitude of problems where it was practically unplayable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski speaking with Reuters and transcribed by GamesIndustry stated that the developer focused on fixing the game to a point they can be proud of and it to be successful for years to come.
"I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come," Kicinski said.
Cyberpunk 2077 released in December 2020 and sold over 13 million units before Christmas 2020.

The only way to restore their reputation is to fix it like No Man's Sky was fixed.
Of course they won't shelve it. They've had such bad PR till now, and I can't imagine the crapstorm that would hit them if they decided to move on after selling sooooo many copies of it already.
Why would they shelve it? Even in such a terrible state it still sold quite well. Plus, I imagine they would get sued into oblivion if they abandoned the game before fully fixing it.
The mother fuckers better not drop it. The makings of a great game exist under the half-finished exterior. They needed to let it cook a good while longer, but what's done is done. At this point, the just have to do the cooking in the public eye, while people are critiquing their every move.
I sure hope to see some TW3 quality expansions. I think the universe and story are compelling, and there is lots of room to do cool stuff with it. I'm hoping to play the 9th gen version once the first DLC hits, and that day better come.
Yeah, no shit. It would be even worse for them if the game stayed a mess.
I'm waiting for the next gen versions
Can we say now that Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest disappointment in the history of gaming?
From what I saw in the internet 1.2 was already on a decent state.
I mean, I don't imagine they have another game coming for quite some time so it wouldn't make sense to shelve the game.
good job its not handled by EA
I don't think they can fix it on a base ps4 and xbox one. Even the PlayStation 5 version has a long way to go.
They can. But it is going to take allot of tweaking and potential visual/world downgrades to achieve.
From looking around patch 1.2 made the game decent on PS4, and for Pro seems like it is on an acceptable stage.
