PS5 Sales Top 6 Million - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for Feb 28-Mar 6 - Sales

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console with 423,187 units sold for the week ending March 6, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch has now sold an estimated 80.79 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 201,033 units to bring its lifetime sales to 6.08 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 103,237 units to bring their lifetime sales to 3.94 million units.

The PlayStation 4 sold an estimated 43,366 units, the Xbox One sold 19,234 units, and the Nintendo 3DS sold 1,453 units.

Nintendo Switch sales compared to the same week a year ago are up 137,453 units (48.1%). The PlayStation 4 is down 147,330 units (-77.3%), the Xbox One is down 69,206 units (-78.3%), and the 3DS is down 10,573 units (-87.9%).

Switch has been averaging almost 400k a week this entire year. Without taking into account boosts from games or the holiday season, the Switch will hit 20M this year.

I predicted 20-22M early this year. Crazy to think that 20-22M is the floor if there are no boosts and the holiday season doesn't even come. I didn't do a good job predicting this one. 25-26M is probably minimum at this point, and even that might be pessimistic.

If you don't account for holidays here's how it breaks down for average weeks.

300k: 15-16 million
350k: about 18 million
400k about 21 million

20 million for the year is pretty much locked in. I'm going conservative and guessing 25 million for the calendar year. But it definitely has the chance to match last year.

Yea and recent words are saying production is expected to reach it's peak this year so it would be the app 28 million it sold last year. If a revision comes out then that's def possible.

The thing is the majority of game pass at the moment is Xbox PC hardware driven, and Spencer spoke about approaching AMD for more capacity, but it looks like Sony was first ,so they are left waiting on new lines to open ,this could be affected by Taiwanese water shortage .

AMD allocated all remaining TSMC 7nm most likely created by Apple's move to 5nm to PS5 thought to add a third of 7nm production onto PS5's already allocated production.

Microsoft is possibly manufacturing about the same numbers, the problem is that globally PS5 is selling every PS5 that come out, either for players or for scalpers, while for XBox X we can easily find them on shelves across the world.

PS5 is a BEAST, its already selling 2:1 vs XBox X, maybe even a better start than PS4 that sold 2.3x more than XBox One in the end, and PS5 it's still availability constraint because of Covid 19.

It's hard to say how it will turn out though. It's likely the ps5 will outsell the series. But until both consoles are in full production, there isn't much to predict. As far as I know, they're both selling as fast as they're produced.

The last I heard, the chip shortages won't be under control for another 4 quarters. I don't know if microsoft and sony will be affected by that. Their production might have already been contracted to increase by then.

Every time we see world sales article you see people predicting switch sales or boasting about them. No one else gives a fcuk that 80 mill parents bought their kids a switch

Huh? No one cares about ps5 and series sales because they're supply limited. It's uninteresting.

Sony produces x ps5 units. X ps5 units sell. Microsoft produces y series units. Y series units sell. There isn't anything to predict.

Funny, last week it was PS5 sells 6 million, and 3 weeks ago it was PS5 sells over 200,000 and Xbox Series sells over 100,000.
