Silent Hill Game to be Announced 'Prominent Japanese Developer' This Summer, According to Report - News

Konami has apparently outsourced the Silent Hill IP to a "prominent Japanese developer," according to a report from VideoGamesChronicle. The new game in the franchise will be announced this summer.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno in an interview said the developer has been working on a horror IP "with a very famous publisher" for over a year. This has led to speculation that the Polish developer is working on a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise.

If the Bloober Team and the report of a Japanese developer working on the franchise, it would mean two new entries in the IP are currently in production.

Sources have stated that the Japanese Silent Hill game will be somewhat of a departure from previous entries in the franchise.

Bigger question is if it will be good. Last few Silent Hill games have been mediocre. Not sure why everyone wants a new Silent Hill game as like its the best horror IP ever created. 1,2 and 3 were great games, since than.. they have been meh.

Because last few were made by no name western devs. People want one made by a good Japanese developer.

Means nothing without an actual name to it. The exact same thought process applies to if this game was being made by a prominent Western company. Same thing.

Which would be different from a no name studio, how are you not getting this?

I mentioned no name as no name was mentioned in this article so to me, a no name studio is making this game.

Didn't Sony publish Destruction Allstars?

When you make as many new IPs as Sony does, there’s bound to be failures, but overall looking at last gen they published the most 90+ rated games, most 80+ rated games, dominated GOTY awards, more new IPs than MS, Nintendo, Ubisoft, EA, WB, Activision, etc. all put together. Sony’s easily the best publisher on the planet right now.
