Bayonetta 3 Development is 'Going Fine,' According to Creator Hideki Kamiya

Bayonetta 3 Development is 'Going Fine,' According to Creator Hideki Kamiya - News

Nintendo and Platinum Games back in December 2017 announced Bayonetta 3 for the Nintendo Switch.

Since it was announced we haven't heard much about the game, however, Bayonetta series creator Hideki Kamiya in an interview with GameXplain has provided a quick update on the game.

Kamiya said development on Bayonetta 3 is "going fine."

Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba discussed the impact of working from home on the development of the game.

"How much that has impacted our work? I think honestly, that's something that we're going to have to see," said Inaba.

"We're working from home, we're trying to do what we can to get to kind of work with this new work style. It's still very early and I think that how well we're able to adapt is really going to show how we can, you know - not with just this situation - but with any other situation to pop up, as a company it's a challenge for us."

If this were some unproven/upstart developer working on a new IP, I’d agree. But this is Platinum we’re talking about. 1 and 2 both turned out to be fantastic, 2 in particular. And Astral Chain is a great game from what I’ve played so far.
They’ve earned the benefit of the doubt. At least in my view.

We still have nothing at all for the end of 2020, there will not be any Direct in August, next substantial direct is certainly on mid-September, it is strangely short to announce what we will have in Nov-Dec.

Platinum is developing a lot of games at once, but I'm glad this is going fine. Shouldn't take much longer now for Switch owners to enjoy it.

I hope so, but I won't believe it until I see it. They got Astral Chain announced and out within a short span, and it was great, and SMT V finally has a release window, but no Bayonetta 3.

Astral Chain was also in development for 5 years. It’s looking more and more like they had just started development for Bayonetta 3 when they announced it at TGA. It’ll be ready when it’s ready.

And yet Bayonetta 3 wasn't present at the partner mini direct. Where a game like Shin Megami Tensei did get some new info and a trailer. They will probably release Bayo 3 in 2021, but the early announcement was a bit odd.

I don't know if they're considering Bayo 3 as a "partner" game as it's being funded and published by Nintendo, which I don't think is the case with Shin Megami. Another potential explanation is that because they have said they plan on doing multiple presentations like this, each will have a "headliner" and they're saving Bayonetta 3 for another time. Of course, it could also just mean that the game's not ready to show.

Yeah, I don't believe this any more. If it was going fine, we would have seen it by now.
