Sony announced lifetime shipment figures for the PlayStation 4 have hit 110.4 million units as of March 31, 2020. The figure was revealed in Sony's earning report for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2019.

1.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles were shipped during the quarter. That is down by 1.1 million during the same period a year ago, where 2.6 million were shipped.

Sony also shipped 13.6 million PlayStation 4 consoles for the 2019 fiscal year. This is up from the previous forecast of 13.5 million units shipped. Sony did not provide a forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.

PlayStation 4 software increased 4.9 million year-on-year to 59.6 million games sold during the third quarter. 66 percent of those sales were software digital downloads. That is an increase over 45 percent a year ago.

PlayStation Plus subscribers increased by 5.1 million to 41.5 million as of March 31, 2020.

Sony as a whole reported sales and operating revenue was down 405.8 billion yen (-5%) to 8,259.9 billion yen for the 2019 fiscal year. Operating income also fell five percent to 845.5 billion.

The Game & Network Services division saw sales of 1,977.6 billion yen for the 2019 fiscal year, which is lower than the 2,310.9 billion in sales from the previous year. Operation increase fell 72.7 billion yen to 238.4 billion yen.

Indeed. The second best selling home console in history. Incredible software numbers. And PSN became a money making juggernaut during the PS4's lifetime. It's been a good run.

This is amazing and awesome. I remember at the beginning of the 8th generation so people thought consoles were gonna die or become less popular because of smartphone gaming. Boy they were wrong as PS4 is likely going to become the 3rd bestselling system ever and already is the 2nd greatest-selling home console ever, the Switch is also selling at an unprecedented rate becoming one of the fastest-selling systems of all time. If anything console gaming has grown this generation which many people didn't see coming in the age of the smartphone,

I see the PS4 selling between 125M-130M when all said and done, which are incredible sales. It likely won't catch the DS or PS2, but potentially selling 130M is insane for a console. I'm interested to see if Switch could surpass it, but I find it less likely since Nintendo consoles usually don't have a lifespan as long as PS since Nintendo quickly focuses on their successor.

On pace to outsell the combined sales of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color by this holiday season or at the very least the end of the fiscal year.

Well deserved. If you treat consumers well, provide a solid, compelling product at the right price and provide the masses the games they want to play... You get rewarded with a historic sales success.
