The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.
Switch Vs. Wii Global:
Gap change in latest month: 497,501 - Wii
Gap change over last 12 months: 6,844,252 - Wii
Total Lead: 10,992,986 - Wii
Switch Total Sales: 35,551,732
Wii Total Sales: 46,544,718
June 2019 is the 28th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month the Wii has grew its lead by 497,501 units. In the last 12 months the Wii has outsold the Switch by 6.84 million units. The Wii is currently ahead of the Switch by 10.99 million units.
The Wii launched in November 2006, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The Switch has sold 35.55 million units, while the Wii sold 46.54 million units during the same timeframe.
The 28th month for the Nintendo Switch is June 2019 and for the Wii it is February 2009.

Well, Wii is a monster. When is the point reached where the Wii-momentum dried up?
The Wii was one of the greatest of all time in terms of console sales. It even took the PS4 some time to match it and now obviously pass it. I do not see the Switch matching the Wii though. It will post respectable numbers though.
