Hollow Knight Tops 2.8 Million Units Sold - Sales

Team Cherry has announced the 2D Metroidvania action-adventure game, Hollow Knight, has sold over 2.8 million units. 

 

Hollow Knight is available now for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

They have given some sales info in the past:

PC: over 1 million (July 2018)
Switch: 250k in its first two weeks

Konami is a strange example where they could actually make a shit ton of money just from making slightly more polished indie-like experiences. Castlevania, Bomberman, and Contra can all be small 2D titles. They should really do something with their IP especially because they keep making crossovers and Netflix seasons.

I know these type of sales for a game on this budget are great, but considering its available on 4 platforms, it doesnt seem that high. But congrats to the devs. The Game is up there with Ori as a great Metroidvania gem.

Indie game made by 4 people with basically no marketing selling more than some AAA games.

Fair point. I wasnt too sure how much budget or marketing the game had. Its impressive.
