The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 Vs. XOne US:

Gap change in latest month: 72,610 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 792,062 – PS4

Total Lead: 2,507,345 – PS4

PS4 Total Sales: 19,822,312

Xbox One Total Sales: 17,314,967

In August 2017 the gap in the US between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One grew in favor of the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 sold 72,610 more units than the Xbox One in the last month.  The PlayStation 4 sold 792,062 more units in the last year.  The PlayStation 4 currently leads by 2.51 million units.

The PlayStation 4 launched in the US on November 15, 2013, while the Xbox One launched on November 22, 2013. The PlayStation 4 has sold 19.82 Million units, while the Xbox One has sold 17.31 million units.

X is going to be the last opportunity to close that gap. I honestly don’t see it happening though, especially if Xbox enters another huge games drought throughout most of next year.
