July 2016 is the 33rd month that the PlayStation 4 has been available for. During the latest month the gap grew in favor of the PS4 when compared with the Wii’s 33rd month on sale by 26,499 units. In the last 12 months the gap has grown in favor of the Wii by 54,092 units. The PS4 currently leads by 419,442 units.
The Wii launched in December 2006 in Europe, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. The PlayStation 4 has sold 17.23 million units in its first 30 months, while the Wii sold 16.81 million units during the same timeframe.

Why not global sales...?
Europe is an interesting place to compare, because it's the region where Wii and PS4 sales are the closest. In NA, it's going to take a long time for the PS4 to catch the Wii, and home console sales are traditionally low and slow in Japan.
