Welcome to the latest edition of the ‘PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Europe’ article. This series compares the monthly and lifetime sales of the 8th generation of home consoles - the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.
Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in Europe in December shows how much the PlayStation 4 has dominated in Europe and has only grown its lead month after month. It has sold more than the Xbox One and Wii U combined.
The PlayStation 4 crossed the 14 million mark. The PS4 has sold 14.00 million units lifetime in Europe, the Xbox One 4.99 million units, and the Wii U 2.96 million units.
Taking a look at the marketshare, the PlayStation 4 tops the other two platforms combined. The PlayStation 4 has 64 percent market share, the Xbox One sits at 23 percent, and the Wii U 13 percent.

Wii U Total Sales: 2,960,372
The PlayStation 4 has outsold both the Xbox One and Wii U every month since it launched in November 2013. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U in December for the 17th straight month. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 1,113,567 units for the month and the Wii U by 1,329,095 units. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U by 215,528 units.
When you compare monthly sales to a year ago the PlayStation 4 and Wii U are up, while the Xbox One is down. The PlayStation 4 is up 267,906 units, the Xbox One is down 74,232 units and the Wii U is up 20,984 units.
Looking at market share for the month of November, the PlayStation 4 managed to achieve 67 percent. The Xbox One accounted for 21 percent of the consoles sold, and the Wii U a modest 12 percent.
