Developer Hipster Whale, best known for Crossy Road, has released the free-to-play Pac-Man 256 for mobile platforms.

The game is named after the glitch found in the original Pac-Man which would cause the game to break on level 256.

Pac-Man 256 plays like traditional Pac-Man, however the screen constantly scrolls up with the glitch chasing you as you try to escape.

There are power-ups available, such as a laser beam which will take out enemies in any direction Pac-Man faces, and credits to collect that are necessary in order to play the game. They refresh every 10 minutes, or can be purchased at 79p per 12 credits. Alternatively you can spend £5.99 to remove the need for credits altogether.
