Xbox One Sales Top 1 Million in the UK, Outsells PS4 for 3 Straight Weeks - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 20 November 2014 / 7,451 Views

Xbox One sales have topped one million units in the UK, according to MCVUK. The Xbox One has also outsold the PlayStation 4 for three straight weeks. The boost in sales is due to the releases of Sunset Overdrive, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

"We’re seeing fantastic momentum with Xbox One having sold almost 10 million units to retailers worldwide," said Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle. "This momentum is reflected in the UK, particularly over the last three weeks, which is extremely encouraging as we approach the Christmas shopping period."

"People buy consoles to play the best games, and Xbox One is home to the best games. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is one of the highest rated next-gen console games released, Sunset Overdrive is the highest rated new franchise on any next-gen console and Forza Horizon 2 is the highest rated driving game on any next gen console."

"We have an excellent line up of games to look forward to in 2015, including Quantum Break, Fable Legends and of course Halo 5: Guardians. With some great deals to be had on the high street, now really is the best time to be an Xbox One owner."

Gotta give Phil Spencer a huge round of applause for turning around Mattrick's fiasco.
He has literally changed the way people see XOne. It may have weaker hardware, but the system is worthwhile, for this or another reason.
PS4 Owner, but well done MS. Competition is healthy for the industry! (:

Not according to VGC. According to your own charts PS4 has been outselling XB1 since September 27th.

So vgchartz must be VERY far off on their numbers. Because all the stats I've seen show PS4 has been beating the shit out of Xbone since it launched in 2013. As well as the last 3 weeks.

MS's claim (which we'll imagine for the sake of it is both true and talking about consumer purchases, not retail) is that they've been ahead in the UK for three weeks.

VGChartz' data is missing the past two weeks, so we only have one week to compare. Indeed, during the first of those three weeks, VGChartz have the PS4 a little ahead (not "very far off," by any stretch). It's close enough that a little overtracking of the Xbone elsewhere would be enough to offset it.

And, yeah, for most of the year the PS4 has beaten the shit out of the Xbone. That's obviously accurate. We know that the worldwide gap is about 2:1 and that MS have been consistently losing even the US and the UK except for the past few weeks of price cuts, advertising, bundles, and big games.

Microsoft keeps getting hype from retailers, but consumers are tired of XB. Do you see any hate with Nintendo? No because they don't pay for advertising as much.

xbox goes on a roll every November. It's because it's the holiday season. So far this holiday has not been as good as the last 4 years. Are they doing better? Yes. Are they doing great and making a come back? No...this is more of what they do every year.

So Microsoft may be close to being close to 10 million actually sold which the PS4 was able to achieve three months ago. Well done.

They're close to 10 millions sold to retailers...not consumers

Close to 10 million to retailers... So at least 9 million shipped...

So probably 6-7 million actually sold, similar to what VGChartz estimate.

The PS4 had sold 10 million to consumers by Gamescom and had over 13.5 million shipped through September... So it's probably around 13-14 million sold by now, again similar to the VGChartz numbers.
