SimBin Studios, the Swedish developer, has gone bankrupt. Former COO Christopher Speed told Develop that the company wanted to re-structure and that bankruptcy was the easiest way. Due to the bankruptcy 18 employees were laid off.

Speed has formed a new studio, Sector 3 Studios, following the bankruptcy proceedings. The new studio is continuing work on RaceRoom Racing Experience.

"I formed Sector 3 to first try and keep as much of the talent SimBin employed as possible," he said. "I also believe in RaceRoom Racing Experience as a product and the surrounding commercial ventures that were spawning from it."

Sector 3 Studios in the future is going to move into a new office at the Gothia Science Park in Skovde, Sweden.

It's always a sad news when a developer company shut down.

With TOCA (from Codemasters) discontinued and GTR / RaceRoom (from SimBin) suffering with this process, the motorsport genre is vanishing from videogaming. Project CARS is the last hope.
